I first came across the name of harness racing owner, trainer, and, at one time, aspiring driver Shannon Wright Machovec of Elk Grove, California, while I was looking to write an article relating to the November 9, 2023, barn fire at Tioga Downs, Nichols, New York. The fire claimed the lives of 30 harness racehorses […]
In a document filed January 2, 2024, in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, the government announced they will not proceed with the prosecution of veterinarian Dr. Rebecca Linke. Linke, 46, of Farmingdale, New Jersey, faced one count conspiracy to commit misbranding and drug adulteration in a case that saw harness racing trainer […]

Ola Yoder, the founder and owner of the uber-successful Kountry Wood Products in Nappanee, IN has put the same amount of effort, forethought, and savvy into his harness racing breeding program that he has into his cabinetry business, and it is paying off. The […]
Kassa Branca. Sam Francisco Ben. So Cozy. Concertina. Do you feel old? Tell me, what do these four harness racing Standardbreds have in common? Kassa Branca and Sam Francisco Ben were colts, the latter two, fillies. So that’s not it. Only Kassa Branca and Concertina were the same age. So, that’s not it either. Do […]
