What chance for the defending champion?

By Harnesslink ·

This time last year We Walk By Faith (Bettor’s Delight) took out the Dawson Harford Taylor Mile at long odds.

He’s likely to be at long odds again in this year’s edition as he faces the likes of Sooner The Bettor, The Lazarus Effect, Swayzee, Akuta and Got The Chocolates.

“He’s working good enough to win and we’ve drawn an alley for us to stay handy. It’s definitely a winnable race for him with the right run,” said Hayden Cullen who trains in partnership with wife Amanda.

At his last start at Cambridge in ‘The Race’ driver Blair Orange had to take We Walk By Faith back from a wide draw. He was in the last pair for most of the trip and got a run up the inside to finish seventh.

“We just got too far back and ended up with a nice enough run in the finish. It was like we were chasing to make up ground for the whole race.”

On Friday night he gets a better draw at two which should give Orange plenty of options.

“He looks really bright and trained well on Monday. It’s not going to be one of those races where everyone settles and finds their positions. There will be a bit of fireworks early I’d say.”
