WA Media Guild thoughts 28 August

The Schrader F&M Group 3 Pace (2130m) highlights an attractive card of pacing at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
The $30,000 race brings together a host of in-form mares and punters will be divided in their opinions on who will reign supreme.
Members of the WA Trotting Media Guild have steered clear of the race in regard to finding their best bets on the 10-event program, preferring other races on the card.
Radio Great Southern’s Warren Wishart and TABradio’s Matt Young are both keen on Miss Eerie in the first race.
“Race one, No. 1 Miss Eerie,” Wishart said. “She’s racing well and can lead all the way.”
Young agrees.
“Miss Eerie comes up with the prized cherry in race one,” Young said. “She has been racing really well and looks the leader and winner to breakthrough for a well-deserved city win.”
The West Australian’s Ernie Manning believes Robbie Easton will lead all the way in race three.
“Robbie Easton has come up with the prized number one draw after running unplaced from gates eight and six at his past two starts,” Manning said. “He produced a creditable performance to finish fifth behind Patronus Star in last Friday night’s $50,000 Binshaw Pace. The four-year-old, a winner of eight Gloucester Park races, has shown quality for trainer Gary Hall.”
Veteran trotting journalist Ken Casellas is keen on another Hall-trained pacer.
“Extreme Prince has been unplaced at his past seven starts, but he is sure to appreciate a drop in class when he contests the final on Friday night,” Casellas said. “He is my best bet in a race in which he should enjoy an ideal passage close behind noted frontrunners Ideal Investment and Saleahs Comand.”
TABradio’s Hayden King has opted for the standing-start event to find his star bet for the night.
“J B Mauney had his tyre completely burst off the rim at his last start,” King said. “His previous two runs had been superb and with a smooth getaway he could find himself in front. From there, he should be winning.”
Longshot guru Pat Harding has made Qtown Rip Roaring his best for the night.
“Apart from a couple of obvious winners, this looks like a tough night for punters,” Harding said. “My best bet comes up in race six with No. 1 Qtown Rip Roaring. He has been around the place for a while, but this barrier draw with Chris Voak aboard gives him a great chance to give punters a good return.“
The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft believes Thereugo has his hoof on the till.
“Thereugo flies the gate and should get an easy lead and then be the one to catch,” Havercroft said. “This represents an easier task than his last outing when copping mid-race pressure from Stroke Of Luck.“
Guild president Wayne Currall has made Boom Time his best bet for the meeting.
“Boom Time ran a great race to get so close to Patronus Star in the San Simeon Pace earlier this month,” Currall said. “This assignment looks a lot easier and despite his awkward draw in gate 12, I expect him to put this field to the sword.”
VALUE BETS
WARREN: Motu Premier looks ready to improve in this race. Will be at nice each-way odds.
MATT: Ohoka Titan has a lovely draw in the last, following out the potential leader. Looks to be some early speed and it’ll suit him nicely. Each-way play in the last.
ERNIE: Ideal Investment has won only once in his past 22 starts and is on a 12-run losing sequence, which does not suggest he is a betting proposition. But he could surprise for reinswoman Deni Roberts, with a pole-position advantage.
KEN: For value, I suggest Im Rocknroll Magic in the eighth event, a 2096m stand. He has finished strongly at his past two starts and was particularly impressive when second to The Buckeye Bullet at Pinjarra on Monday afternoon.
HAYDEN: Askmeilltellya could come up at each-way odds in the first. Her form is good enough to suggest she can overcome the barrier and be a solid winning chance. If anything, this looks easier than recent assignments.
PAT: My value bet comes up in race four with No. 8 Sangue Reale. He had a great win two starts ago and is wide in the market. I think he is great value over the 2536 metre journey.
RYAN: My Carbon Copy was flooding home late last week behind Patronus Star and should be improved for his third-up assignment here.
WAYNE: American Delight will be at liberal odds in the Schrader Pace, but she’s not without a hope if the race is run upside down. Her last-start fourth behind Fake News was full of merit.
