WA horses head to McCarthy in NSW

Leading WA harness racing trainers Greg and Skye Bond have transferred Condrieu, Our Major Mark and Raesawinner to NSW trainer John McCarthy.

Talented six-year-old gelding Condrieu has always shown ability in WA but his manners have consistently let him down.

The noted frontrunner has galloped on numerous occasions on the final bend at Gloucester Park and thrown away races that appeared to be in his keeping.

Condrieu has won 16 races and been placed 16 times from 50 starts.

He will be joined by Our Major Mark who has also not appreciated racing around the 804.5m Gloucester Park circuit.

The eight-year-old has won more than $650,000 in prizemoney in a career which has yielded 23 wins and 29 placings from 99 starts.

He is a multiple Group 1 winner that was prepared by Mark Purdon in New Zealand.

Raesawinner is the third horse that will join the anti-Gloucester Park brigade, although he hasn't shown the same distaste for WA's metropolitan venue.

The five-year-old gelding is the least performed of the three having won 10 of his 52 starts.

“Raesawinner and Our Major Mark have left Perth,” Greg Bond told Seven West Media.

“Condrieu will be on the next available flight.

“They’ll still compete for WA ownership syndicates. Each of the horses should be suited by Menangle’s 1400m circuit.”

It is a move that the Bond stable has had success with in the past.

Former Group 1 WA Derby (2506m) winner Seel N Print began his career in New Zealand before heading to Bond's stable in WA where he would claim the three-year-old feature.

He would be transferred to Todd McCarthy where the sit-sprinter has enjoyed success which includes running second behind Beautide in the Group 1 Inter Dominion Grand Final (3009m) at Menangle in 2014.

Queensland pacer Mach Alert ran unplaced in his three Inter Dominion qualifying heats but trainer Ian Gurney is confident he has worked out the pacer's issues.

Mach Alert will line up in the Group 2 Village Kid Sprint (1730m) before tackling the Group 1 Fremantle Cup (2536m) and Group 1 WA Pacing Cup (2936m) in January.

"He took time to adapt to WA track surfaces and was slightly sore after his early races here," Gurney told Seven West Media.

'He's improved considerably with shoe and gear changes. In addition to the Village Kid Sprint, we'll nominate for the Cups next month."

Stablemate Avonnova will compete in all three Gloucester Park features following his fourth-placed effort in the Inter Dominion Grand Final.
