Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) was saddened to hear of the passing of trainer Alan Dunsmuir last night.
Mr Dunsmuir, of Carisbrook, was aged 33 and is survived by his partner, Stacie, and son, Landon.
Mr Dunsmuir hailed from a famous New Zealand trotting dynasty. His grandad, Alan 'Dusty' Dunsmuir, moved to Australia and enjoyed great success with his trotter, Bunty's Pride. Mr Dunsmuir's father, Stephen, held a stablehand license and was a trots owner.
Mr Dunsmuir was in his ninth season as a trots trainer, in which time his horses had 751 starts for 68 wins and 139 placings, including success with Tere T (16 wins), Maoris Pocket (12 wins), Buntys Bass (11 wins), Aftermidnight Sam (7 wins) and Western Gretel (7 wins). His most recent success was with Scipio, who won the Lyal Eales Pace at Ararat on September 6.
Mr Dunsmuir also drove 11 winners across 144 starts.
