This season’s Trots Country Cups Championship will carry a $25,000 carrot to the harness racing connections and trainer of the winning horse.
Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) today announced the elevation of the Championship, which aims to assist country clubs to attract competitive and quality fields for their annual feature race.
Elevating the Trots Country Cups Championship will assist in creating a powerful narrative across the Victorian feature race carnival, beginning at Swan Hill on Saturday night with the running of the 3SH Swan Hill Pacing Cup (Group 3) over 2790m and culminating on April 16 next year at Warragul. Overall 25 Trots Country Cups will make up the Championship.
The points system for this year’s Trots Country Cups Championship will remain the same as last year with four points awarded to the winner of each cup, two points awarded for running second and one point for running third.
Stay tuned for more Trots Country Cups announcements in coming days.
Tune into Sportsday on your local radio station this Friday night to listen to the trots’ new weekly Trots Country Cups show, Trots Talk.
