Morgan needs three wins to reach 15,000

DOVER, Del. — Political Foe, a six-figure winner and Go Byem, a maiden, won 1:57.4 victories in two $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old Male trot preliminaries on Tuesday, March 24 at Dover Downs. Harness racing driver Tony Morgan won two races to move with three of $15,000 lifetime wins.

Trainer-driver Eddie Dennis bided his time racing second before moving quickly to take the lead on the final turn on the way to a 1:57.4 triumph in the 1st of two non-wagering $20,000 DSBF prelims. Save The Night (George Dennis), cut out the early fractions and held on for second. Audie Mo (Vic Kirby) was a strong third. Political Foe is an altered son of Political Briefing-Paris Filly who registered his fifth lifetime win in 10 starts with four seconds winning $122,625.

Go Byem, an Impel Hanover-Go sassy Go gelding, made his first start a winning one, as trainer-driver Les Given negotiated a 1:57.4 decision in the second $20,000 DSBF 1st leg prelim. Delbert Cain and Nanticoke Racing own the winner who only had two qualifiers earlier this month. Egosanattitudes (Jonathan Roberts) was runner-up. Political Cash (Allan Davis) took third.

Brees Creek with Corey Callahan won the dash to the finish line in 1:53 to win the $20,000-$25,000 4&5-Year-Old Claiming/Handicap for one of his four driving wins.Artistic Director (Daryl Bier) was second best. PL Hoofhearted (Kirby) was the show horse. The win was the third in his last four for the Santana Blue Chip-Kamala Creek gelding.

Tony Morgan continues on his quest to win join Dave Palone, Heinz Wewering of Germany, Herve Filion and Cat Manzi among the winningest driver in harness racing history. Morgan won two races and now needs three more to win 15,000.

On the Tuesday card, Corey Callahan led all drivers with four winners. Vic Kirby had three. Morgan, owner-trainer Leigh Raymer and owners Steve Ross and the Solomons and trainer Karen Crothers, and owners Max Walton and Greg Papaleo, all had two win apiece.

The accent is on DSBF1st leg filly pacers meet in $20,000 divisions Wednesday accompanied by a $14,000 feature trot.

A TRIO OF $20,000 DSBF SOPH FILLY PACES; $14,000 TROT WEDNESDAY

Three 1st leg Three-Year-Old Delaware Standardbred Breeder Fund (DSBF) Filly paces and a $14,000 Winners-Over trot highlight the Wednesday, March 25 program at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Totally Rusty, a Carter Racing Stable homebred, the only foal from Al 'Rusty' Carter's Rusty For Real-Rusty's Joy, was near invincible losing only a second-place finish in the Harrington $100,000 DSBF final at two then winning the $100,000 Dover Downs edition en route to a sensational season. Corey Callahan drives the Doug Lewis trainee, Spin Vision is toughest adversary in the second $20,000 DSBF division. She started her sophomore campaign with five straight wins for breeder, owner, trainer Leigh Louthan. Allan Davis will be in the bike.

In the opening division, Purrfect Bags and Vic Kirby drew the rail in her $20,000 leg for sophomore fillies with Love Forbidden with Tim Tetrick alongside. Perfect Bags is a 'bargain basement' weanling-purchase by JoAnn King, austensively to be a companion to one of her other young horses. Trained by her husband, Jim King, the filly has become a DSBF standout with driver Vic Kirby winning seven races with one second, in the $100,000 final. Tim Tetrick pilots Tony Dinges' Love Forbidden, who had three wins and three thirds in eight outings.

The last of three DSBF filly paces is led Gigi Deo, another sharp contender in the two-year-old ranks, is driven by Ross Wolfenden. Sugar Spin and George Dennis and Garnet O'Mara's Seboomook Princess.

In the overnight feature, I Like My Boss, Swish and Gurf drew inside posts in the $14,000 Winner-Over trot.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Every Thursday through April 9, there is 'two-for-one' entrées in the Winners Circle Restaurant. Simulcasting of harness and thoroughbred racing is available daily from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight.
