Mighty Flying Miki’s (Always B Miki) win at Cromwell on Tuesday extended the fantastic record as a broodmare of her dam Fleet’s Pocket (In The Pocket).

Fleet’s Pocket has left eighteen foals of racing age and fifteen have won races.

Her foals have collectively won a remarkable one hundred and forty six races for a total of $1,834,697.

Fleet’s Pocket was purchased by Lex and the late Heather Williams at the 2002 National Yearling Sales. Trained by Tim Butt she raced four times for a best placing of fifth at Greymouth, before being mated as a three year old.

Her first foal Mighty Pocketlands (Badlands Hanover) ran four seconds in New Zealand before winning four races in Australia. She was the flag bearer for what was to become Fleet’s Pocket’s stunning breeding career.

The second foal of Fleet’s Pocket was Falcon’s Flybye (Falcon Seelster). She qualified but was unraced. However as a broodmare she has left Fleeting Grin (Grinfromeartoear) eleven wins, He Can Fly (Bettor’s Delight) thirty seven wins and $306,529, Alotbettor (Bettor’s Delight) thirty nine wins and $532,012 and Blitzembye seventeen wins and $291,235.

Fleet’s Pockets biggest winners have been Mighty Flying Art (Art Major) twenty seven wins and $294,365, Mighty Flying Thomas (Falcon Seelster) twenty four wins and $354,622, Flying Pocketlands (Badlands Hanover) the winner of twenty one and $442,423 and Mighty Flying Deal (American Ideal) twenty one wins and $242,572.

Mighty Flying Miki is the last foal of Fleet’s Pocket and she has one other foal still racing in Mighty Flying Lou (Sweet Lou) which has won three for Ashburton trainer Lawrence Hanrahan. So this great mare’s record looks likely to extend further.
