The Art Of Success makes it ten in a row

The Art Of Success makes it ten in a row

By Darin Gagne ·

Outstanding mare The Art Of Success (Art Major) showed great courage in her most important to success to date when she took out the APG VicBred Mares Final for four year olds at Melton on Saturday night.

The Art Of Success was sent out favourite but there was strong support for Wicked Confession with interest in Miss Ari and Let Her Roll.

From her second row draw The Art of Success was caught wide early as Wicked Confession went straight to the front.

Mark Pitt who is currently driving in great form allowed The Art Of Success to settle early before he let her move around the field to face the breeze while Miss Ari had the perfect trail behind the leader.

Wicked Confession really put the pressure on the field by running her third quarter of 27.1 seconds but The Art Of Success stuck with her and the two matched strides along the back straight while Miss Ari was stalking right behind the leader as these three cleared right away from the rest of the field.

Although she had the harder run The Art Of Success hit the front on straightening only to then fight off a spirited challenge from Miss Ari who looked likely to grab victory. But The Art Of Success dug in and she got to the line a head from Miss Ari and Wicked Confession.

THE ART OF SUCCESS 19 SEP REPLAY

Pitt commented after the race.

I thought I had the best horse in the race, so we drove her like that, and I was sort of wasn’t in a rush to get there, but it was nice to be able to get through a few and get in front of them, before how we sort of got striding up. Soit was probably the winning move, to get through early and get a bit of cover to sort of get to the mile and then grade it from there. And, look she’s a great mare. She pulled right away in the end.

The Art Of Success has come on in leaps and bounds since she won a heat and final series at Mildura back in April this year.

You’ve got to back Emma and Clayton’s judgment wherever they put them in. That’s always got to be best for the horse. But it’s probably got to have helped her. It was a great heat and final series and she pulled that off strong and she’s just gone in leaps and bounds from there. She’s taken on some of the best mares and then back to her own age group tonight and she proved how good she really is.

Pitt think she could become one of the best mares in the country.

For sure she could be. I’ve got no doubt that she can as long as everything stays well with her I’m sure we’re going to see her in some great races later on.

As to the Eureka Pitt was more cautious

Well, it’s not off the cards but it’s always a big thing a mare taking on some colts but I’m sure it’s not off the tables at this stage, but you could see her there.
