Teela Park provides pathway to success

Goulburn Valley horseman Albert Davis is no stranger to being around good horses.

During the 1990’s he foaled down a string of top flight performers for leviathan WA breeder-owner Mick Lombardo including Australia’s first million dollar female Tailamade Lombo, the 2YO Filly of the Year Lombo Rapida, Mary Mazzini and Nietta Lombo, to name just a few.

After a four-year stint as studmaster at Concorde Park, Albert and his wife Ellen joined Ross Simpson’s Karamea Farm, a noted standardbred nursery near Shepparton which played host to the likes of leading sires such as Troublemaker, Armbro Aussie and Camtastic.

The couple served at Karamea for 11 years before pulling up stumps and establishing their own breeding outfit, Teela Park, on a 50 acre property at Numurkah, north of Shepparton in 2008.

Among their complete range of services are mare reproduction, stallion collection, foaling down, weaning, yearling preparation, breaking in, spelling and short and long term agistment.

This year Teela Park is prepping multiple yearlings for the Australian Pacing Gold sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 15.

“We have three yearlings for Harvey Delmenico, one for Russ and Pauleen Thomson, two for Helen Head and one each for Blood Diamond Syndicate, Bruce Phillips and Jos Lumsden and ourselves,” Albert said.

“Bruce and Jos’s The Storm Inside filly (Lot 167) is a cracking type. Helen Head’s Stay Hungry filly out of Shes Offlimits (Lot 144) is also a really nice type.

Lot 180, a Poster Boy filly out of Moremi Miss, owned by Justin Newbound’s Blood Diamond Syndicate, is a nice upstanding filly.”

Delmenico’s draft is headed up by Lot 115, an Always B Miki half-brother to the Ballarat Cup, NZ Easter Cup and Jewels winner Heaven Rocks. Harvey is also offering a Ride High filly from the George Johnson winner No More Trouble, the dam of Nineteenth Man (1:49.6) as Lot 128, and a Rock N Roll Heaven colt from the same family (Lot 163).

The Thomson’s have Lot 137, a stunning chestnut colt by Used To Me from the Listed winner Prettylilangeleyes.

Helen Head’s second entry is Lot 151, a filly with the fastest speed inheritance in the sale, being by the USA Horse of the Year Tall Dark Stranger (1:47.2) out of the dual Vicbred champion Tell Me Tails (1:49.3).

The Davis’s will present a trotting colt (Lot 131), by Majestic Son out of a Ready Cash half-sister to eight winners including the multiple Group placegetter Duchess Ella.
