Highly promising pacer Sure Thing Captain (Captaintreacherous) continues to show his ability with a tough harness racing win in the Leading Edge Security Pace at Albion Park on Saturday evening.
Sure Thing Captain won his two heats of the Inter Dominion in July before finishing eighth to Leap To Fame after never looking likely.

But last night it was a different proposition in a smaller field over the mile. Sure Thing Captain was sent out a heavily backed favourite ahead of the other local prospect Regazzo di Tilly and the Bernie Hewitt trained pair of Our Goat and Royal Cruiser.
As expected there was plenty of early pace and from the pole draw Regazzo Di Tilly was able to hold out Our Goat while Adam Sanderson manoeuvred for the one out and one back trail and Royal Cruiser settled behind the leader.
Angus Garrard on Regazzo Di Tilly kept the pace brisk but Sanderson didn’t make his run until turning for home when the former tried to get a break on the field. Royal Cruiser was able to take an inside run but Sure Thing Captain kept grinding away and in a desperate finish he edged out Royal Cruiser by a neck with Jimartee finishing with a burst to take third.
SURE THING CAPTAIN AUG 9 REPLAY
Sure Thing Captain ran his last quarter in 27.8 seconds and certainly made people sit up and take notice with his mile rate of 1.50.
Trainer Shannon Price has indicated previously that both Sure Thing Captain and stable mate Speak The Truth may head to Sydney for the Group 1 $150,000 Len Smith Mile at Menangle on 6 September. On the strength of his impressive win Sure Thing Captain should be seriously considered for an invitation for the Len Smith Mile and he gives every indication of having further improvement in him.
New South Wales trainer Bernie Hewitt was looking for noteworthy performances from his pair of Royal Cruiser and Our Goat to secure invitations for the $2.1 million Eureka at Menangle on 6 September. Royal Cruiser certainly lost no admirers in his close second and he now must be in the running for a coveted spot for the Eureka.
