Prepared by the powerhouse couple, Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen, Stripes found the lead from stablemate Ruby Rhayne Bow in the first 400m and that was the end of affairs for rivals as McMullen got away with a cheap lead time of 38.1 seconds and a first half of 59.6. The tempo increased significantly with a fast 27.2 third quarter before the filly ran home in 27.9.

Stripes won by 8m from the Grant Dixon-trained Amylee in second, while Magic Jujon ran third for trainer Donny Smith. The mile rate was 1:55.0 for the 2138m.

Punters expected Stripes to dominate the race as she was well backed during the week from $2.25 into $1.40. It was her ninth career victory as she made it a QBRED Breeders Classic-QBRED Triad Final double in 2026.

STRIPES 22 AUG REPLAY

Going back 12 months, Stripes was a $34 chance in the 2025 edition as a 2YO, when she ran fifth in the race won by $1.12 favourite Ride The Highs for Lisa and Mark Pitt.

The daughter of Tiger Tara has really turned the corner since turning three, winning twice as many races compared to her two-year-old campaign. In addition to six wins, three of those in a row now, she was runner up in the Group 3 Redcliffe Oaks won by Seaside Boulevard and third in the South East Oaks won by Ripples.
