Stonewall’s South barns expands

The country’s leading trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer of Stonewall Stud are about to add more horsepower to their South Island operation.

At least six horses currently based in their North Island barn will head south later this month.

Allamericanplayer, Utah Blaze, Graphite, JT Boe, Joca’s Hill and Ride The Waves will either fly south or be floated down.

Allamericanplayer looked smart when winning his last two races – the Group One Welcome Stakes and Group Two Sapling Stakes. And Utah Blaze ran second to the talented Special Occasion at Alexandra Park last month.

The two juveniles will be joined by Graphite who won his first two starts and ran fifth in his last race, JT Boe who’s won his last two races, Joca’s Hill, a What The Hill three win trotting gelding and Ride The Waves, an unqualified Downbytheseaside two year old filly out of Fight For Glory.

All travellers will be under the care of Steve.

“He’ll bring some others, nice Country Cup horses as well. Hopefully we’ll have a nice team for the rest of the year,” Amanda said.

The new recruits will arrive on the 20th September by which time the training establishment’s new barn will be completed, extending the stable’s capacity to over one hundred.

“The new 54 horse barn will be ready so we’ll have plenty of room. It’s all on target and all the boxes are going in now. We’ve got a ten horse barn in the front of the property, forty five boxes in the big barn, fifty four with the new one and close to eighty odd paddocks,” Amanda said.
