Stolen One smashes Tasmanian record
The Wayne Rattray Two Year Old Classic in Launceston on Sunday week is firmly in sight for two-year-old pacer Stolen One after his record-breaking win at Hobart’s Ladbrokes Park Elwick on Sunday afternoon.

The Jordan Chibnall-trained and driven Lather Up filly ran the 1609m of the Fehlbergs Produce Sprint Lane Pace in 1:54.8s, becoming the first two-year-old in Tasmania to break 1:55.0s.
The time took 0.7s off the two-year-old state record set by Bettor Than Ready in July and 1.5s off the Hobart two-year-old record.
Her 1:54.8s mile also made her the equal-second-fastest female pacer in Hobart, just 0.1s outside the 1:54.7 fillies and mares track record set by Our Willow at Hobart in February.
Stolen One ($3.00) began well, before handing up to the well-supported Haveyoumetmaynard ($1.60 fav) in the early stages. Chibnall made her move at the 400m on Stolen One, who proved too tough late by a half-neck over Haveyoumetmaynard, with Our Rob Roy ($6.50) a further 17.3m away third.
“I love her so much. Every time I ask her to step up, she does. Hopefully she can step up again in two weeks,” said Chibnall.
“I think she did a super job, really good, knowing that there’s improvement to come as she was first-up from a let-up.”
The win was the first leg of a training and driving double for Chibnall, with Rose Noire ($6.00) winning later in the day.
“I own her myself, so it’s an extra little thrill as well. And it was my first double as a trainer, so it’s really cool,” she said.
Chibnall wasn’t the only participant to celebrate a milestone, with trainer-driver Paul Williams recording his 200th win since computer records began in the 1988/89 season when Shades Of Silk ($5.00) claimed the Hygain Pace (1609m).
The four-year-old Lather Up gelding led all the way to a 1:58.2s win.
Custom Harley ($2.45 fav) claimed the Downbytheseaside @ Woodlands Stud Discretionary (2579m), defeating Waves Of Chance ($6.50) by nine metres.
Victorian trainers were also among the winners on the card, with Dean Braun preparing Vivid Dream ($1.14 fav), while the Wayne Watson-trained Denver Man ($21) also scored.
Trainer-driver Luke Alcorn was successful with John Vincent ($7.50) in the Typeface Pace (2090m).
Other winners included Remmington ($3.90) and Ray Dan ($3.90), who completed a driving double for Ryan Backhouse, while Didyalousaroosta ($2.90 fav) claimed the final race of the program.
