Steven's Saloon sweeps past rivals late

HARRINGTON, DE – Rich Ashley and Michael Cain’s Steven’s Saloon ($6, Jason Thompson) was a 1:52 harness racing winner in the $22,500 Open Pace Monday at Harrington Raceway.

After getting his first post inside the 7 hole in the last 3 starts, Thompson guided the 5-year-old Always B Miki gelding to his 3rd win of the season off a second-over trip, behind a lively pace set by Armada Hanover.

Thompson and Steven’s Saloon made a three-wide move behind stale cover near three-quarters, and he quickly matched strides with Armada Hanover before pulling away for an open length win. Armada Hanover was a game second with T Dog third.

STEVEN’S SALOON REPLAY

The win put Steven’s Saloon’s seasonal earnings just shy of $100,000 for trainer Joe Hundertpfund Jr.

Thompson had a driving double on the card, while Tony Morgan had 3 winners.

Live racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule (post time 4:30 p.m.).
