SRF interns share their experience

Cream Ridge, NJ – 7/19/2022 – The days are winding down for the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) 2022 interns. Traveling all the way from Minnesota, Katie Fedewa, and Kendra Putzke brought so much to the SRF and in return, their experiences will last them a lifetime.

Along with rehabilitating and training the trotters and pacers SRF has helped off the slaughter-line, they enjoyed time at a harness racing training center alongside the talent at the Burke Racing Stable and the company of world class racehorses.

The ladies, soon to graduate from the University of Minnesota, experienced some of SRF’s police horses; worked alongside equine veterinarians; covered fund-raising events; enhanced our social media; opened their eyes at 4:00 am to get a few ready to head to their new homes; worked with our visiting children’s programs; treated foot abscesses, fevers, emaciation; and learned more about a breed that made them say, “Wow!”

Katie and Kendra will be assisting at SRF’s Casino Night, Friday, August 5th, and at the Hambletonian on August 5th. That will wrap up their time on the east coast.

SRF is hoping to be as lucky in 2023 to have interns with such great talent!
