WASHINGTON, PA, April 17, 2017 — Besieged by nearly the entire field in the lane, Show Runner dug deep and collected her third straight harness racing victory in Monday's $18,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Show Runner took the field through a 1:24 three-quarters but appeared vulnerable out of the final turn with four mares in hot pursuit. Jim Pantaleano asked her for more, and the 7-year-old daughter of Little Steven-Peace Runner responded by holding off the first-over Spreester by a head in 1:52.3. Dime A Dance rallied for show.
Christen Pantaleano trains Show Runner, who has won seven of 13 starts this year and $459,291 lifetime, for A Piece Of The Action LLC.
Aaron Merriman piloted five winners, including a pair for trainer Sal Digati, while Dave Palone enjoyed a triple on the 13-race card.
