Seven Ascot Park runners worth a look

By Harnesslink ·

Just seven races are on the card at Ascot Park in Invercargill tomorrow and here are seven starters across the day well worth a look.

Race One: Pyramid Mischief (Father Patrick) – driver Matty Williamson – UR1

Comment: Although she’s still on the Unruly, this three year old filly showed better manners when finishing second at Winton recently. She let down nicely in the straight, and was run down by Don’t Stop Believing who came off her back. Whilst still having to be handled with kid-gloves, she’s making good progress.

Race Two: The Bricklayer (Art Major) – driver Hayden Douglas – FR6

Comment: His form has been solid this time in and he lands in a suitable race. He has recently moved to Brent Shirley’s barn and gets one of the best southern juniors in the cart, which is a big plus.

Race Three: Rakamick (Always B Miki) – driver Carter Dalgety – SR2

Comment: This gelding has been knocking on the door for a while. Although he draws the second row, he follows out a horse and driver that like to leave the gate. You’d expect him to be at double figure odds.

Race Four: Shezastranger (Tall Dark Stranger) – driver Peter Hunter – FR2

Comment: Showed good form in her last prep and ran a nice second at the Winton Workouts recently. Draws nicely at two and likes to race handy.

Race Five: Jaccka Jim (Father Patrick) – driver Nathan Williamson – UR2

Comment: Stylish winner at Winton last week and gets a great chance to go back to back. Still on the unruly so there are some risks.

Race Six: Always B Batman (Always B Miki) – driver Hayden Douglas – FR6

Comment: Won easily at the Winton Workouts recently and has drawn inside the favourite Duchess Of Kent. Add Bettor Way into the mix and there’s a likely trifecta at skinny odds.

Race Seven: Cheer Up N Dance (Always B Miki) – driver Nathan Williamson – FR5

Comment: Wasn’t too far away in the heat of the Nevele R Series at Addington so this is a massive drop in class. Should have too much toe for her rivals.
