Scoundrel and Indulge Me win features

By Tyler Stillings ·

At Addington last night Scoundrel (Captaintreacherous) announced his arrival when he knocked off some better credentialed two year olds and Indulge Me (Downbytheseaside) got a well-deserved win in the Nevele R Fillies Series heat.

In the fourth heat of the Woodland Stud Sires’ Stakes Series for two year olds the two favoured runners Tour Party and Chiggsy, vied for the top early with Tour Party winning that battle leaving Scoundrel parked.

“I didn’t want to be stuck on the fence. I knew he’d relax,” driver Seth Hill said.

Across the top, Tour Party upped the anti. Turning in, Scoundrel moved up to Tour Party, breezed past him and went down to the line to win impressively by two and three quarter lengths from Patriot who came up the inside late.

SCOUNDREL REPLAY

“I really like the horse but to run past horses like that and the way he did it surprised me a bit. I suppose he loved the speed on and he relaxed so well. He’s slowly maturing and becoming a racehorse.”

Trained by Brendan Hill, Scoundrel was bred by Kevin and Barbara Chapman and is out of their nine win Presidential Ball mare Twilight Rascal, making him a half-brother to the well performed Beach Ball.

In the Nevele R Three Year Old Fillies Series driver Nathan Williamson powered Indulge Me up early with designs on the lead. A brief battle with Cath Williamson showed his intent to stay in front which left Cath parked, with favourite Cherish Me three back on the outside.

Turning in, Indulge Me had a two length buffer on Cath with Cherish Me another length back.

As the finish line got closer and margins narrowed, Indulge Me hung on to beat Cherish Me (who was having steering issues) by a head, with southern filly Miki’s Deal making up a huge stretch of ground to get third a length back.

INDULGE ME REPLAY

“She’s a really good staying filly. I’ve felt lately that maybe she hasn’t been at her best, but I thought she was good coming into the race and we’d chance our arm,” Williamson said.
