Race replays of the week - Gias Surreal thunders around Flamboro Downs

On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.

In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.

CANADIAN REPLAY

Nicholas Barnsdale likes reporting on the rich kids on the block and on Thursday he was able to do that once again taking in the win at Flamboro Downs of Gias Surreal (So Surreal) The Fillies and Mares Preferred much to the liking for the daughter of So Surreal. A couple of late moves by race rivals weren’t enough to worry the star performer out of things with the overall time for the event a smart 1.55. Gias Surreal is now 38-for-167 lifetime with $1,040,955 in earnings

NEW ZEALAND REPLAY

Bruce Stewart continued to cover the major features in the run up to the NZ Trotting Cup Carnival in November with the $40,000 Group Three Avon City Ford New Brighton Cup taking place at Addington on Friday night. The feature proved a case of deja vu for the Dunn trained Dalton Shard who once again made the most of some early manners to obtain a nice mid-race sit – the position, on the inner of the track, proving the deciding factor over the concluding stages. Watch the close finish below.

AUSTRALIAN REPLAY

John Dunne reported on the Group 2 NSW Breeders Challenge Blue (3YO Colts & Geldings) Final at Menangle on Saturday night. The major feature went the way of Lettuce Nipya (Tintin In America) who scorched around the track in a slick 1.49.8 to scorer impressively from Paradise Point. You can watch the competitive affair below.
