Pocket rocket score for Swan Country

WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 14, 2020 — Swan Country, who made an abortive move early in the race, shot the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday's harness racing feature at The Meadows, a $10,200 Conditioned Trot.

Aaron Merriman sent Swan Country after the early leader, Pete Stamas, but when that rival wouldn't release Swan Country, he ducked back to a convenient opening at the pylons. That left Swan Country with plenty of trot late, and he used it to kick by the tiring Pete Stamas and score in a career-best 1:56. Tuesday Morning rallied for second, 1/2 length back, while the first-over Rev It Up Man raced well for show.

Bill Rhoades trains Swan Country, a 3-year-old Swan For All-Big Z Credit gelding who was using Lasix for the first time, for Rick Senger.

Brady Brown and trainer Dirk Simpson each collected three wins on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday when the 13-race program features a $69,375.93 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 PM.
