Smart filly Peace Out (Bettors Delight) was rewarded for her consistency with an all the way win in the Nutrien Equine New South Wales Breeders Challenge Heat for three year old fillies at Newcastle on Friday evening. In doing so she continued the winning steak of the McDowell training stable.

Ideally drawn in barrier 2, Peace Out’s driver Lleyton Green took full advantage to drive for the early lead after a short battle with Rock Am Aleyeska. The well supported Manhatten Chick was out wide early but eventually worked around the field to race outside the leader.

Peace Out ran a leisurely 30.4 seconds for her second quarter but then sped up to 27.7 seconds as she, Manhatten Chick and Upstream gradually drew clear of their rivals.
Peace Out drew clear on straightening but she started to drift out and Upstream went for an inside run. But Peace Out fought back strongly and at the line she had just over a metre to spare over Upstream with Manhatten Chick in third place in a mile rate of 1.54.4. The Queensland visitor Our Ultimate Jessy was bottled up on the rails and never got a true run to finish fifth.
Trained by Dean and Kerry McDowell, Peace Out is a stable mate of the classy filly Smirkin Serene who looked impressive winning her Breeders Challenge heat at Bathurst on Wednesday evening.
PEACE OUT SEP 26 REPLAY
Peace Out is out of the now deceased New Zealand bred mare Our Classical Art a proven performer who ten years ago like her daughter won a Heat of the New South Wales Breeders Challenge. All in all Our Classical Art won 13 races from 44 starts with a fastest time of 1.52.4.
In addition to Peace Out Our Classical Art left the smart pacer Prince of Peace who went 1.51.9 with 12 wins from 99 appearances as well as Willison (4 wins and 1.55.7).
Peace Out might lack the brilliance of Smirkin Serene but she is honest and will give a good sight if she makes the Group 1 Final at Menangle on October 25.
Peace Out’s win was the first leg of a double for the stable when Bolero (Vincent) sat outside the leader to narrowly win the Truck and Fleet Maintenance Pace.
