Our Rob Roy wins first 2YO race of the season
Tasmanian Yearling Sale Graduate Our Rob Roy Wins First 2YO Race
Tasmanian Yearling Sale graduate Our Rob Roy (For A Reason) has claimed the first two-year-old race of the season, scoring a determined victory at Launceston on Friday night.

Trained at Carrick by Neville Rattray, the gelding was driven patiently by Kayleb Williams, who eased him back from a wide draw to settle last in the field of five. Williams improved to the one-one for the final circuit before launching his run around the home turn.
Our Rob Roy finished strongly to score by a half-head over Bettor Than Ready , himself another graduate of last year’s Tasmanian sale.
Williams, 23, continues to build an impressive résumé. Since having his first race drive on King Island in December 2020, he has now chalked up 108 career wins, marking him as one of Tasmania’s brightest emerging talents.
Bred by Peter Tuson, Our Rob Roy is out of the unraced Western Terror mare Littlebitof Terror. Her first foal, Unmatched, has already won three races. Tuson balances his breeding interests with his full-time role at the Devonport City Council.
After being passed in at the 2025 Nutrien Tasmanian Harness Racing Yearling Sale, the gelding was later secured by Neville Rattray and Susan Leersen.
Friday night’s victory returned $9,100 to connections, along with the Tasbred Bonus and an additional $5,000 Sales Bonus offered by Tasracing for a graduate’s first two-year-old win.
Rattray, a former thoroughbred trainer, has enjoyed a strong run of form in recent months, also preparing Alberio, winner of the Circular Head Cup at Burnie earlier this month.
