Media Guild Friday's thoughts 10th November

By Harnesslink ·

In-form harness racing mares Bettor Boa and Donegal Rundlescreek appear to be star bets on Friday night’s card at Gloucester Park. At least that’s the way many members of the WA Trotting Media Guild see things unfolding at headquarters on a night when quite a few horses will be vying to impress before the rich Inter Dominion series kicks off in a fortnight.

Leading tipster Stuart Lowe and the West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft have earmarked Donegal Rundlescreek as a star bet.

Lowe spoke for him and Havercroft when he said Donegal Rundlescreek had been super consistent this preparation. “Donegal Rundlescreek has won three times and been placed five times, from eight starts this season,” he said. “Gets her best draw for some time and should lead and win.”

The West Australian’s Ernie Manning, veteran tipster Bill Brindley, Guild president Wayne Currall and TABradio’s race caller Matt McDermott are all keen on Bettor Boa.

Manning echoed the thoughts of his colleagues when he said Bettor Boa had bounced back to top form and had impressed in her first two starts this campaign. “She won first-up from Sarah Goody on October 20,” he said. “Sarah Goody turned the tables and won a week later, but there was a lot of merit in Bettor Boa's second after covering extra ground.”

Gloucester Park TV’s Ken Casellas and Sunday Times columnist Robbie Dewar are fans of Just Bet On Black.

Casellas spoke for him and Dewar when he said Just Bet On Black had a distinct class edge on his rivals. “Just Bet On Black has drawn out wide, but is my star bet this week,” he said. “The Colin Brown-trained and driven five-year-old is not purely a frontrunner and he could well be saved for one crack at the leaders in the final circuit.”

Longshot king Pat Harding is keen on Sarah Goody making it successive wins at GP. “Sarah Goody certainly looks the goods,” he said. “She had an excellent win last start and Chris Lewis should be able to bounce her out of barrier four and take up the running. I believe the strongest opposition will come from the stablemate Tajies Girl, so a quinella could be in order.”

VALUE BETS

Stuart: Johnny Disco is drawn to repeat his win from last week.

Ryan: The Trilogy looks a great each-way prospect in the time-honoured York Cup.

Ernie: Gangbuster would be hard to beat if he reproduces the form he showed in July.

Bill: Run Oneover could appreciate being driven quietly off a hot speed.

Wayne: James Galleon could give them something to catch if he can cross at the start.

Matt: Braeview Bomber ran an eye-catching fourth last start and is drawn well here.

Ken: Braeview Bomber should be in a commanding position throughout.

Robbie: Mac Tiger has been trialling well and has drawn the pole.

Pat: Bettor Boa should give punters something to smile about.
