Maurice confident but not past the post confident

Maurice 'the magic man' McKendry has two plum drives tonight at Alexandra Park and why most pundits rate the pair as very hard to beat, Maurice feels that they are not past the post certainties.

Hughie Green has drawn barrier one in his race but Maurice feels that barrier one can restrict your options at times

" It is a bit of a tricky draw from one as you have little choice other than to hold your position."

" There is plenty of speed off the front line with No Doctor Needed, Besotted and Tiger Tara and then we have Have Faith In Me on our back in the second line so it isn't going to be easy."

"It will depend how much pressure he gets at the start and during the race but I couldn't be happier where Hughie is at and I think he will go a big race."

" I think the biggest danger will be Have Faith In Me who really impressed me at the trials the other day, Maurice said.

The other plum drive that Maurice has tonight is aboard last season's star three year old filly The Orange Agent who put in a huge performance in her first start for the season when beaten by the race hardened No Doctor Needed by a nose in a sensational 1:53.1 mile rate.

So why that would suggest that The Orange Agent looks very hard to beat tonight, Maurice doesn't think she is a past the post certainty at all.

" The race has drawn a great field and I feel that luck in the running will play a big part in determining the winner."

" All the good ones from last year bar Adore Me are there and its not going to be easy from three on the second line."

" She was just a bit fresh in her first run back and over raced a touch but with that run under her belt she should be fine tonight.

" She is a huge chance to win the race but she won't want too many things to go wrong all the same," Maurice said.

While Maurice always appears a touch conservative in his assessments of his drives chances, he is also on the mark just about every time he previews his drives.

In our experience, It pays to treat any advice from Maurice with a lot of caution as he is rarely wrong.
