London To A Brick back to his best

Classy trotter London To A Brick (Bettors Delight) continued his good form of late when he fought back strongly to take out the Hyland Harness Colours Trotters Mobile at Menangle Park on Saturday night. A month ago London To A Brick had won a similar race at Menangle suggesting a serious return to racing in top company.

In a race of high quality, London To A Brick faced some tough opposition from the Victorian Harry Stamper a previous winner of the New South Wales Trotters Derby.

However punters opted for London To A Brick and he started favourite over Harry Stamper and the in form Hanover Da Moon.

LONDON TO A BRICK MAY 3 REPLAY

Hanover Da Moon found the early lead but not long after Anthony Butt went around the field with Harry Stamper to eventually take up the running. London To A Brick was being patiently driven by James Rattray at the rear. At the top of the back straight London To A Brick went around the field three wide to move alongside the leader and in doing so gave the trail to Constantinople.

Harry Stamper still looked to be travelling well within himself on the final bend but London To  A Brick issued a strong challenge and he surged clear only for Constantinople to issue a late challenge. In a desperate finish London To A Brick held on to outlast Constantinople by a head with Harry Stamper four metres away third.

The gelding has proved to be a handful for trainer James Rattray at times but there is no doubting his ability which he started to show from an early age. His lowest point was during last season’s Inter Dominion where he failed to qualify but Rattray has been able to get him back to the ability that we have been used to seeing.

London To A Brick has been entered for the Inter Dominion this July in Brisbane as has the other placegetters Constantinople and Harry Stamper. If he maintains his soundness he will be a worthy representative for New South Wales and will acquit himself admirably in the series.
