Leap To Fame continues his relentless run with his 71st success

Australia’s leading pacer Leap To Fame (Bettors Delight) showed yet again why he’s regarded as the nation’s best with yet another stirring performance in winning the Second Heat of this year’s Pacer’s Inter Dominion at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

There was discussion that Leap To Fame would show enough early speed to perhaps lead but he was clearly beaten for early pace and to the surprise of many Nyack from the outside of the front row exploded to the lead.

But no sooner had the field settled down and Grant Dixon was off three wide on Leap To Fame with his customary charge around the field with The Janitor following. He eventually took up the running with Nyack behind the leader and the luckless The Janitor caught outside the leader.

LEAP TO FAME 4 JULY REPLAY

Leap To Fame ran his third quarter in 26.5 seconds with Ubetcha Tigerpie and Dangerous both trying to make up ground out wide but with those times it was near impossible to make up on the leader.

Nyack went for the inside and to his credit tried to make of race of it.

But as we have seen with Leap To Fame in previous circumstances he just refuses to give in and again he was able to hold off Nyack by two metres with Tims A Trooper who had raced along the fence in third. The Janitor lost no admirers in battling on for fourth.

Nyack’s run was full of merit as he was used up early and he showed surprising fight to finish a very respectable second.

Grant Dixon seemed satisfied after the event.

I think the run will do him good and he felt good. They’re getting closer to him but thankfully he’s still holding them at bay at the moment. Trista and I thought we’d put a nice amount of work underneath him. He normally comes along a bit more when he has a few more runs under his belt.

We hope he stays that way for the next couple of weeks and happy days.

On the strength of his win Leap To Fame is certain to firm even further into favouritism but in order to fulfil his quest for a third Inter Dominion he will have to overcome the flying mare Captains Mistress who broke his track record in winning the Rising Sun.
