Lady Saturn charges late to win Fillies & Mares Open Pace

Lady Saturn (Brett Crawford) captures the featured $14,500 Fillies & Mares’ Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (August 21).

Illusion Seelster (Braxten Boyd) grabbed the early lead and was first to the quarter in :26.4.  Soft Shot (Kyle Swift) took control with a lap to go and led to the half in :55.2.  Cruise Alert (Cory Stratton) was first to make a move as they headed down the backstretch.  Soft Shot shook her off and led to three quarters in 1:23.3.

As they reached the stretch, second place finisher Soft Shot was firm on the lead, but Lady Saturn ($19.12) came flying like she was shot out of a cannon and blew right on by to win in 1:52.4.  Aint She Pretty (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.
