Angus Hall son Imperial Count, whose first crop of harness racing two-year-olds race this year are already making an impact.
Arriving late for the 2012-13 stud season Imperial Count only served limited numbers, but the ten resulting progeny has already resulted in a two-year-old racing against older company for Alan Clarke, who rates the colt for his great gait and attitude. Alan is looking to get the horse some ring raft before he starts racing against his contemporaries. Imperial Whiz is out of the Gee Whiz II mare Stargo Whiz.
However he is not the only horse by the son of Angus Hall to impress. Nicky Chilcott has one in her own barn on behalf of a syndicate, that she rates very highly. He is out of a Monarchy mare, Duchess of Phoebe. The breeder of Monaro Mia reports the connections of this filly are very impressed with her progress, and she hails from the family of the great mare Tussle, being out of a daughter of Wrestle.
It is no surprise that the talent is coming from a broad spectrum of mares, as the son of Angus Hall will cross with the great majority of NZ broodmares, the cross proven with daughters and grand daughters of Sundon, Gee Whiz, Muscles Yankee, Balanced Image, and Continentalman.
Imperial Count was a magnificent 2 & 3yo Sires Stakes winner and was placed in all three 2 & 3yo Sires Stakes Gold & Grand Finals in the tough Ontario based programme in Canada – one in world record time after he created all the speed fractions.
Described by his trainer as; "A horse trainers dream, never been sick or lame, never made a break never had a bad day. 26 second gate speed. Very good gaited , very easy to drive. Mr Reliable!"
Imperial Count is back in New Zealand available now for breeding. His fee is $2500 plus GST but discounted for multiple bookings and those that bred to him before.
He stands at Barra Equine alongside New Zealand two-year-old of the year One Over Da Moon.
Both are avaialble with fresh chilled semen throughout NZ and Australia.
