Up and coming trotter I’m Bobby (Majestic Son) showed that he has arrived in the big time when he gave a faultless harness racing display to win the Hertz Melton Trotters Free For All at Melton on Saturday evening.

All eyes were on the return of Callmethebreeze who was resuming from a long lay off and was being tested for a potential Inter Dominion campaign.
IM BOBBY REPLAY JUN 28
Aldebaran Vera showed dazzling speed from the mobile despatch with James Herbertson on I’m Bobby taking a trail behind the leader. Callmethebreeze was given time to settle down by Kate Gath before eventually moving up to race outside the leader with Imperial Monarch taking a one out and one back trail.
Going into the back straight Callmethebreeze appeared to be making heavy weather of gathering in the leaders and he started to give ground near the final bend. But I’m Bobby quickly moved off the rails and in a flash raced past Aldebaran Vera to quickly put a space over the rest of the field.
Stretching out impressively in the home straight I’m Bobby looked every bit a top performer as he strolled to a 16 metre win over Imperial Monarch with Aldebaran Zeus third.
I’m Bobby is trained by Eddie Tappe who is based at Congupna in the Goulburn Valley.
I’m Bobby was not entered for the Inter Dominion but given the strength of his hollow win he should have plenty of local free for alls and open class trotters features to compete in.
Driver James Herbertson commented on the view that I’m Bobby is one of his three favourites currently running.
“Oh look at the moment absolutely. I love his gait speed and being able to drive him however you want to. I grabbed hold of him pretty quick and jumped into behind Glen Craven (on Aldebaran Vera). He just does what you want to do. And he’s a pleasure on the track. Off the track he’s an absolute handful for Eddie. He’s quite a dangerous horse in the stables. To his credit he comes out on the track and he’s very professional and he’s got quite a big motor.”
“I wasn’t quite expecting this, I’m quite realistic about Callmethebreeze he’s an out and out champion and he had an off night tonight. To this horses’ credit he did it quite well.”
For Herbertson the win capped a big night with a winning treble courtesy of earlier successes with the Jess Tubbs trained Hesfromheaven (Sweet Lou) and trotting mare Dichotomy (Aldebaran Eagle).
Unfortunately Callmethebreeze was found to have bled after the event and he has been automatically stood down for 28 days so his Inter Dominion campaign is now over. Trainer Andy Gath has spent countless hours working on Callmethebreeze’s hoof problems and this latest blow is a setback to his comeback ambitions.
