Longshot of the meet posts a 98-1 upset

DOVER, Del—- Ideal Magic came on in the stretch to fashion a 1:51.2 winner in one-of-two harness racing co-features while Gallic Beach in 1:51.4 won the other on Monday, Jan.30 at Dover Downs. Renegade Express was the longshot of the meet, so far, posting a 98-1 upset.

Vic Kirby picked up his second winning drive of the day guiding Ideal Magic, an American Ideal-Special Magic gelding to victory. RBH Ventures owns the six-year-old conditioned by meet leading trainer Jim King. Forty Five Red (George Dennis) was runner-up. Earl leader Gratian Hanover (Tony Morgan) finished third.

Gallic Beach use starting from the rail to good use notching a 1:51.4 front-end victory in the second co-feature with Corey Callahan steering the winner. The five-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Western Gallie, trained by John Wilkerson, cruised to his first win of the year and 12th lifetime for Robbins Nest Farm.

John MacKinnon driving for his father trainer Russ MacKinnon came from dead last at the three quarters with Renegade Express to zoom past seven rivals in the lane by a half-length for his first career victory at 98-1 odds. It was the second time since last Thursday when JR Renagade, also a young Pacific Western sired gelding, notched an upset victory for the MacKinnnons.

Tony Morgan led all drivers with three wins. Meet leader Vic Kirby, who holds a one-win lead over Corey Callahan, both drove two wins while Trish Foulk and Jim King trained two winners each.

On Tuesday, Enhance Your Mind, a winner of four of her last five races heads the $20,000 Mares Open pace while Vintage Babe put her six-race win streak is on the line in the $15,000 sub feature,
