Vale Dorothy Hando

Harness Racing New South Wales was saddened to learn of the passing of Dorothy Hando over the weekend at the age of 94.

Dorothy and her late husband Eric ran the highly successful Rosewood Stud – just north of Peak Hill. Dorothy and Eric had three children, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and they will sorely miss the matriarch of the family.

Dorothy and Eric were married at Peak Hill's St Stephen Church in 1945 after meeting at the Peak Hill picture theatre.

In the 1970's Rosewood Stud imported stallions Sheer Genius, Quick Return and Tarport Bill and the Hando family was recognised for its contribution to the Bathurst Gold Crown Series by being named the Gold Crown Honourees in 2012.

Dorothy's funeral will be at 3pm on Friday June 10 at St Stephens, Peak Hill.

HRNSW extends its deepest sympathies to the Hando family at this time.
