Forbes will host its Carnival Of Cups meetings this Sunday afternoon and with big prize money on offer and eight races set down for decision it looks set to be a great day. Bathurst harness racing trainer Andrew Hall nearly produced one of the biggest boilovers of the season last weekend when Hallycould at the juicy odds of 125/1 finished a narrow second behind Jedi Mind at Tabcorp Park Menangle and is hoping to go one better this Sunday at Forbes.
"Going into the race at Menangle I thought he could run a place, I knew Jedi Mind and Strawberry Courage would be the two to beat but I didn't think there was much between the rest of us," Hall said.
"The race last weekend was a Menangle Country Final and because he went so well I thought I would look to target another country heat so that is why we are going to Forbes this Sunday."
Hallycould is the first horse that Hall has trained.
"My three brothers and I are in it together, we bought Hallycould's mum and we have just put her back into foal a few times."
"I work for the Bathurst Council so it is only a hobby for me but I am enjoying it and I have four horses and a yearling that I am looking after."
While Mat Rue drove Hallycould at Menangle, Hall has engaged Steve Turnbull this weekend.
"I got my first start working for the Turnbull family so I have put Steve on at Forbes, when I first left school I went and worked for AD for a year then I worked for Craig for twelve months before going over to Steve and working for him for two years."
"Hallycould has only won one race but as a three year old he had four starts for four seconds, if he did everything right in his races I'm sure he would have won a few more by now."
The first race on Sunday will go at 12:20pm with Hallycould set to compete in the third at 1:31pm.
