Hez The Boss takes more Group 1 glory in winning Westbred Final
Brilliant colt Hez The Boss (Poster Boy) gave a powerhouse display to take out the Group 1 Allwood Stud Farm Westbred Two year old colts and geldings final at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Drawn out in four the issue was whether Hez The Boss would have enough speed to cross Ignite The Furnace who was on the pole. But that was quickly resolved as soon as the gate was released as Hez The Boss flew the start to easily take up the running.
Gary Hall Jnr steadied the pace knowing that his main danger Ignite The Furnace was pocketed behind him while talented gelding Ideal Whisper was once again forced to do things the hard way by sitting one out facing the breeze.

And that’s how the race stayed. Ideal Whisper continued to battle away but in running his last two quarters in 28 and 28.4 seconds Hez The Boss gave nothing else a chance. Ignite The Furnace took an inside run on straightening but he couldn’t make up much ground and in the end he edged out a brave Ideal Whisper for second.
Hez The Boss is trained by Colin Brown and has proved himself to be the best youngster in the West with eight wins and a second from nine starts and $356,978 in stake money. He’s already a dual Group 1 winner having taken out the Pearl Classic in early August.
Hall Jnr stated after the event
I thought he had it there (the early speed) But you sought never really know until you ask. The one thing he did tonight he didn’t quite come back to me as well as he has done in the past. But that was probably to be expected because that’s the first time I’ve really asked him.
When I saw the draw I thought we couldn’t beat the number 1 (Ignite the Furnace) and I thought that was our only chance. So they’ve all gone good the top three.
He gives Colin (Brown the trainer) a lot of headaches at home and the way he drives but every time I’ve sat behind him here he’s been a pure gentleman. So you can put him where you like. He usually drops the bit whenever you ask him and picks it up when you want him to.
Its pretty unusual for a baby to be like that and it all holds well for his future.
It was a typically successful night for Hall Jnr as earlier on he guided Ideal Beach (American Ideal) to a tough win in the $100,000 Group 2 Westbred Three year old final for colts and geldings.
