Herbie’s impressive success in Ultimate Drivers Challenge

Home / Australia / Herbie’s impressive success in Ultimate Drivers Challenge

Victorian driver James Herbertson has proved to be a worthy winner of this years Ultimate
Drivers Challenge at Albion Park with a decisive display of driving that saw him with a
winning quartet on the final night.

Representing the Herb factor syndicate and holding a slender lead over Cameron Hart Gary
Hall Jnr and defending champion Angus Garrard going into the second round, Herbertson
made the perfect start when former South Australian Always Dancing (Always B Miki) well
rated finished too strongly to win the opening event on the program.

Angus Garrard got into the winning frame when he guided the former New Zealander Whos
Delight (Bettors Delight) who was heavily supported to take out the third race.

Canadian James McDonald scored with Resilient (Terror To Love) leading all the way. But
then in the fifth race Herbertson struck again with Strikem (Art Major) and by this stage he’d
taken a healthy lead over the other drivers.

Fittingly Herbertson put the issue beyond doubt when he steered Bellissimo Acquisto (Buy
Kiwi Made) in Race 8 and he capped off a great night when he led all the way with Major
Crunch (Captain Crunch) leading all the way in the final event.

Following the last event Herbertson paid tribute to those around him.

It’s pretty surreal. Mum and dad couldn’t make it tonight. They got me a start on the game.
It’s been a crazy time I lost a best mate. Then I travelled around the world this is pretty
cool.

All people in the slot I can’t ask much more. I’ll be back that’s for sure. It’s a credit for all
those involved. Hopefully next year its bigger and better.
