Heir apparent takes the baton
Adam Hamilton writes in Racenet that girl power is set to dominate harness racing at Albion Park again on Saturday night.
The harness world is still buzzing after Ladies In Red’s (Mach Three) breathtaking Rising Sun romp last Saturday night and now her potential heir apparent Amore Vita (Art Major) takes the baton into the Group 3 South-East Oaks this week.

In a stunning show of confidence for Amore Vita’s talent and potential, trainer Nathan Purdon already thinks she could be better than champion mare Amazing Dream, who won 10 Group 1 races, including last year’s Rising Sun.
“She’s as good as any horse I’ve driven (in work),” Purdon said.
“Amazing Dream was such a great racehorse, so strong and versatile, but this filly has so much more point-to-point speed. She’s got a 25sec quarter in her.
“She just has everything, Amore Vita. Now it’s a matter of whether she can keep developing, getting stronger and learning to run off the gate and relax when we ask her too.”
Purdon “deserves” Amore Vita after losing his two stable stars in recent months.
Amazing Dream went to America to continue her career in February and just last month his other top mare, Spellbound, succumbed to injury and was retired to the breeding barn.
“You don’t just replace stars like them,” Purdon said.
“But life would certainly be harder if we didn’t have this filly to get up to every morning.”
