Winton selections 24th August 2026
Harness analyst best tips:
Best Bet: R4 Redback Bob
Best Value: R2 Franco Newark
Race 1
Massive Merc (5)
Back from a break after putting two wins together last campaign. Trials have been good and looks very hard to beat fresh.
Aradne (3)
Good second at Oamaru and gets another handy draw. Looks one of the main dangers.
Buffy Northstains (4)
Latest run was only fair but her best form is good enough for this grade. One for the multiples at odds.
Race 2
Franco Newark (1)
Now with a southern stable and lands the ace. Early form needs improving but this looks a good chance to show more.
Harvey (3)
Has done enough at the trials to suggest he can be competitive on debut. Nice draw and a genuine EW chance.
Carbonate (5)
Has had some tough barriers lately and finally gets something workable. Better than recent form suggests.
Race 3
Luxmi (8)
Very good second fresh and should be fitter again. Wide draw hurts but still looks one of the best chances.
Superfast (10)
Finished well at Oamaru and gets a soft second-row trip here. Can be right in the finish with the gaps.
Jaccka Henry (5)
Trialled with a smart one leading into this return. Fresh and looks ready to run a big race.
Race 4
Redback Bob (6)
Two starts for two wins and has looked a serious horse doing it. Hard to see them beating him if he does everything right.
Yukon Hill (2)
Two honest thirds to start her career and gets an ideal draw. Looks a strong top-three chance again.
Kings Choice (5)
Got the job done well at Ascot Park and comes into this in good form. Looks the main threat to the favourite.
Race 5
Rakmacknra (2)
Very sharp winning on debut here and looks to have plenty more to come. Drawn to get every chance again.
Off The Canvas (13)
Good maiden win last start and has enough speed to measure up. Draw is ugly but definitely not out of this.
Mach A Wish (1)
Gets the best draw and should get a very economical trip. Honest type who can add value to the multiples.
Race 6
Simply Amazing (10)
Got the right run and took advantage here last start. Second row makes this harder but confidence will be high.
Rise Up N Dance (5)
Deserved the last win after a string of good efforts. Harder race but drawn well enough to be right in it again.
Close (3)
Was too far back last start after a better effort prior. Gets a much better draw and can improve at odds.
Race 7
Delphyne (8)
Two wins on end and going as well as anything in the field. Draw is the test but she is clearly good enough.
Rangitata (4)
Honest effort at Ascot Park and gets a very workable draw. Strong chance to run top three.
New Mexico (6)
Has plenty of ability when she puts it all together. Draw is fine and she can win this with the right trip.
Race 8
Indulge Me (10)
Excellent win on this track and should only improve again. Second row isn’t ideal but she looks one of the better value chances.
The Dancer (5)
Racing in very good form and got the job done at Ascot Park. Draw gives every opportunity to be prominent.
Santiago (4)
Rarely far away and gets another perfect draw. Strong top-three chance in a very even final.
Race 9
Have A Little Faith (7)
Good enough fresh and has since won a trial. Should be sharper now and is capable of winning this at decent odds.
Harriet’s Moment (3)
Continues to race extremely well and gets another ideal draw. Has to be included again.
Penelope Lane (10)
Big winner fresh and clearly returned in top order. Second row makes it harder but she is still a major player.
Race 10
Tua Lipa (11)
Strong winner at Oamaru and comes into this in excellent form. Draw is difficult but still one of the horses to beat.
Mr Cash Man (4)
Good second in an easier race last time and gets a much better draw than several key rivals. Can run top three.
Foxing Easton (10)
Has been racing consistently without winning. Should get a soft trip off the second row and can finish into the money.
