Rangiora selections 23rd August 2026

Harness analyst best tips:

Best Bet: R5  Atomic

Best Value: R7 Here Comes Marty

Race 1

Foliejon Star (7)
Drops into a suitable rating band and should appreciate being back behind the mobile. Has to be respected in this.

Kotare Kelso (9)
Been run down late in his last couple but continues to race well. Wide draw hurts but still a strong top three chance.

Monkee Major (4)
Good again after winning at Ashburton and gets a much better draw than the main dangers. Looks right in this.

Race 2

Queensland Spirit (1)
Has shown enough in three starts and now gets the front. With complete manners she looks a major winning chance.

Sensitive To A Smile (6)
Big effort second up and should be fitter again. Looks ready to win one and must be included.

Seeking Love (4)
Got it wrong when heavily supported fresh. Clearly has ability and can bounce back if he trots all the way.

Race 3

Raina Ashley (2)
Two good runs to start her career and gets another ideal draw. Looks the one they all have to beat.

Bliss Philly (4)
Unraced filly who has done enough at the trials to suggest she can go well first up. Stable respect. Needed.

Victory March (3)
Very good on debut and should improve from the experience. Small field suits and she can definitely win this.

Race 4

Habibti Amar (2)
Has looked good enough in her public work and the draw is a big plus. Looks ready to make a strong debut.

The Royal Metro (3)
Should improve from the debut run and the shorter trip looks suitable. Good each-way chance here.

Speakeasy (5)
Has been thereabouts this campaign without threatening to win. Can run top three with a clean trip.

Race 5

Atomic (3)
Trial win since changing regions catches the eye. Has ability and this looks a good chance to show it fresh.

Destiny’s Angel (2)
Has had plenty of education and qualified well enough here. Nice draw and could surprise on debut.

Pickettywitch (1)
Fresh run can be forgotten after an early mistake. Ace draw gives her every opportunity to turn things around.

Race 6

Val Thorens (1)
Has the best form in the race and gets the perfect draw. If he trots throughout he should be very hard to beat.

Lipstick (4)
Better than the latest result and has been racing in slightly stronger company. Looks a genuine EW chance.

Sheila Laxon (5)
Hasn’t had much go right recently and this race looks very suitable. One of the main dangers with any luck.

Race 7

Here Comes Marty (8)
Finished off nicely at Addington two starts back and this is a much easier grade. Wide draw but can run into it late.

Royal Belle (1)
Big win for the new stable and now lands the ace. Gets every chance to go back-to-back.

Gimmesomelovin (12)
Has been getting too far back recently and the draw doesn’t help. Capable of adding value if the race opens up late.

Race 8

Commander Joe (10)
Went very close in a stronger grade last start and looks well placed here. Ten metres is manageable and appeals at value.

My Skatjie (13)
Did plenty of work last time and her form before that was good. Needs the right run but can definitely feature.

Sans Repos (4)
Two good placings on end and gets the front mark today. Racing well enough to give them something to catch.

Race 9

Brooks Spirit (2)
Got the money on debut and looked to have plenty left to learn. Drawn well again and can make it two from two.

Just For Today (9)
Won nicely at only her second start and has upside. Wide draw the concern but clearly has enough ability.

Royal Ahearn (1)
Finished strongly for second last week and now gets the ace. Should be right in the finish again with manners.

Race 10

Brookies Player (7)
Recent form is better than it looks and this grade suits. Needs luck from the draw but can win with the right trip.

Smoking Ashes (13)
Last start didn’t go to plan after a very good debut effort. Draw is ugly but worth another chance at odds.

Longview Tui (4)
Going consistently and gets a much kinder draw today. Looks one of the stronger top-three chances in an even race.
