Oamaru selections 12th September 2026

Harness analyst best tips:

Best Bet: R6 Secret Wish

Best Value: R5 Penelope Lane

Race 1

Second Thoughts (7)

Got things wrong first up on the wet grass. Better than that and worth another chance today.

Yukon Hill (4)

Three straight placings and has been chasing some handy types. Looks ready to break through on her home track.

KD Corona (3)

Had a tougher assignment last time after two good placings. Back in the right race and should be competitive.

Race 2

Aardie’s Memphis (1)

Excellent second on debut and should improve with the experience. Ace draw makes him very hard to beat.

Destiny’s Angel (6)

Hasn’t been far away in her first two starts. Looks capable of getting into the finish again.

Atomic (3)

Forget the fresh-up run when things went wrong. Better at the trials since and can improve sharply.

Race 3

Kings Choice (11)

Racing extremely well and went close again at Winton. Awkward starting position but clearly one of the hardest to beat.

Holly Highlander (4)

Good second at Methven and drops into a suitable grade. Looks a strong each-way chance.

Mumsdawitch (2)

Recent form has been mixed but she’s capable on her day. Needs her best manners to get involved.

Race 4

Tour Party (6)

Outstanding juvenile who was excellent when second fresh up. Should improve from that and looks the one to beat.

Patriot (4)

Showed plenty in his first campaign and has trialled nicely for his return. Genuine winning chance fresh.

Fantabulous (2)

Two good thirds to begin his career and has been chasing smart opposition. Nicely drawn and should be right in this.

Race 5

Penelope Lane (2)

Made a mistake last time after winning fresh up. Has trialled nicely since and gets a big advantage from the front.

Walkinonsunshine (13)

Useful fresh-up fifth and should be better for the outing. Twenty metres makes it tough but she’s good enough to threaten.

Princess Sadie (10)

Returns after showing good ability last campaign and has trialled well. Ten-metre handicap gives her a genuine chance.

Race 6

Secret Wish (1)

Classy filly returning after two trials and gets the perfect draw. Looks capable of making a winning return.

Indulge Me (9)

Excellent second in the Ashburton heat after two wins beforehand. Second row isn’t ideal but she has to be respected.

Miki’s Deal (4)

Quality filly resuming after a strong first campaign. Has trialled and is capable of going very close fresh.

Race 7

Marble Arch (1)

Very good second fresh up and now gets a massive draw upgrade. Looks a strong chance to go one better.

Ninth Wave Arden (5)

Unbeaten in two starts and now makes her debut for a new stable. Has trialled for this and is an interesting runner.

Stumpy Blackler (13)

Finished last campaign in excellent form and has had a trial for his return. Tough draw but too good to leave out.

Race 8

Franco Sinatra (4)

Finished strongly when resuming and should be fitter for that run. Good beginner who can give this a serious shake.

It’s Tough (8)

Made rapid progress last campaign and looked sharp winning his latest trial. Big chance despite the wide starting position.

Dreams Are Free (5)

Had more to offer at Addington last time and is better than that result. Capable of featuring with a clean beginning.

Race 9

Tarragindi (11)

Has been in terrific form and finished strongly again last time. Thirty metres is the challenge but he can still win.

He Aint Fakin (13)

Back near his best with a strong Addington third. Also gives away 30 metres but has the class to overcome it.

Axel Rose (8)

Returns after winning his final two starts last campaign and has trialled nicely. Twenty metres gives him a head start on the top pair.

Race 10

Teddy The Terror (12)

Returns in a suitable grade after some encouraging trial work. Second row is tricky but he looks a genuine winning chance.

Brookies Player (7)

Continues to race consistently and battled well in tough conditions last time. Looks one of the safest chances in the race.

Mr Cash Man (14)

Has been tackling considerably stronger company recently. Horrible draw but this grade gives him a chance to bounce back.
