Harness analyst best tips:
Best Bet: R1 Regal Summit
Best Value: R11 George Eliot
Race 1
Regal Summit (1)
Forgive her latest miss after a very consistent run of form. Gets the front line and can bounce back strongly.
Lap It Up (3)
Two excellent efforts since returning and went close last start. Looks ready to break through with the right run.
King Charles (12)
Returns after a consistent first campaign and has trialed nicely for his comeback. Manners are crucial from the unruly.
Race 2
Motor Mouth (2)
Has made useful ground in his latest starts and possesses enough gate speed to hold a handy position. Value chance.
Franco Elvis (1)
Didn’t get much luck at Orari after some solid prior form. Ace draw gives him an excellent opportunity to improve.
Apatchofgold (3)
Produced a tidy effort from midfield during the week. Better drawn here and capable of getting into the finish.
Race 3
Rising Bromac (9)
Produced a strong debut second at Addington and has trialed since. Wide draw but looks a serious winning chance.
Dons Delight (4)
Enters his debut after consecutive trial victories. Has shown enough promise to make an immediate impact.
Matilda Too (7)
Returned with a good third at Timaru and should improve with that outing. Looks a solid top-three chance again.
Race 4
Highly Rated (9)
Couldn’t reproduce his strong fresh-up effort at Orari. Capable of much better and deserves another chance despite the unruly.
Father Mike (3)
Has previously won on this track and wasn’t disgraced last time. Return to Methven gives him genuine each-way claims.
Morrie Afton (4)
Has been honest without threatening in three starts this campaign. Needs improvement but could add value to the exotics.
Race 5
Jimandal (6)
Dominant winner at Orari and looks beautifully placed to make it consecutive victories if she can get to the front.
Donttelltheboys (7)
Won impressively here two starts ago before having little luck from the second row. Can bounce back on the grass.
Festus Haggen (4)
Should appreciate dropping back from stronger company and has produced his best form on grass. Worth including at odds.
Race 6
Could Be Katy (1)
Caught the eye running third at Timaru and should appreciate returning to a mobile. Ace draw makes her a major chance.
Lilac Luxury (3)
Freshened after another strong performance and has an excellent record on grass. Nicely drawn and looks right in this.
Terrormylove (4)
Worked hard before fading at Timaru. Better trip would give him a chance. Grass stats can improve here with luck.
Race 7
Larissa Beaudiene (3)
Comes off a deserved Geraldine victory and starts from the front mark. Rating rise makes it harder but she can win again.
Buckskin (1)
Both runs this campaign have been encouraging and he returns to his preferred surface. Front mark gives him every opportunity.
The Coalman (9)
Returns fresh and has a strong record at Methven. 10m handicap to overcome but capable of featuring with the right trip.
Race 8
Val Thorens (7)
Chasing a hat-trick after another tough victory at Orari. Starts from 10 metres but looks the horse they have to beat.
Rachmaninov (6)
Very experienced around Methven and gets the front mark. Recent form is mixed but he’s capable of grabbing a placing.
Royal Del (4)
Returns to the grass after battling at Addington. Gets the front mark and could improve sharply on his preferred surface.
Race 9
Taumutu Lad (11)
Hasn’t been far away in recent starts and should appreciate returning to the grass. Second-row draw is tricky but he can win.
Magical Max (2)
Returns from a spell and has performed well at Methven previously. Excellent draw gives him the chance to be prominent throughout.
Times Like These (7)
Has shown an liking for this track in the past. Wide draw makes the assignment tougher but improvement is possible second-up.
Race 10
Rubira (11)
Latest run didn’t go to plan after an early mistake. Has plenty of brilliance and remains a major threat despite the 15-metre handicap.
J T Boe (8)
Comes off an emphatic Addington victory and remains unbeaten at Methven. Unruly position is the concern but he’s a serious chance.
Mo’unga (10)
Continues to race consistently and has already won at this track. Fifteen metres makes it difficult but he can feature in the minors.
Race 11
George Eliot (14)
Produced a useful Addington effort last time. 10m handicap makes things harder but she’s capable of getting into the finish.
Buffy Northstains (5)
Has won three of her last four and was too strong again at Timaru. Front mark gives her an excellent chance to continue that form.
Vertigo (13)
Recent form has been below his best and improvement is required. Has ability, however, and might add value to the combos.
