Invercargill selections – 8th October 2026
Harness analyst best tips:
Best Bet: R5 Cruise Maguire
Best Value: R2 Better Time
Race 1
Tactical Chevron (1)
Has strong trial form on debut and starts from the front mark. Looks ready to make an immediate impact.
Mikko Koivu (6)
Made a mistake last time after working hard at his previous start. 30m is tough, but he can feature with better manners.
Glendhu Mischief (7)
Recent mistakes have proved costly, but he has enough ability to threaten this field. Major chance if he trots throughout.
Race 2
Better Time (3)
Returns after a solid trial and has gate speed. Nicely drawn and looks capable of making her presence felt fresh.
The Bricklayer (2)
Has been working hard and fighting on strongly in recent starts. Better draw gives him every opportunity to go close.
Rakamick (1)
Continues to race consistently and gets the ace draw. Early speed is the query, but he’s clearly one of the main chances.
Race 3
Claasee (7)
Worked hard and still produced a brave second at Gore. Should be fitter again and looks the horse to beat.
Rakavenom (5)
Did some work before battling strongly into fourth at Gore. With a kinder trip she can be right in the finish.
Honeycomb (3)
Freshened since her latest Winton appearance and has been racing honestly. Handy draw gives her a chance to feature.
Race 4
Delphyne (3)
Chasing a fourth consecutive victory after being freshened. Trialled nicely and looks very well placed to continue her winning run.
Joany Baby (4)
Latest assignment was tougher after some strong previous efforts. Better suited here and looks a genuine winning chance.
Mor Moonlight (5)
Should improve considerably with her fresh-up run behind her. Has plenty of ability and must be respected in this company.
Race 5
Cruise Maguire (5)
Smart type returning from a spell after a tidy trial. Has the class edge on this field and looks very hard to beat.
Rylan Charlie (3)
Has continued to race honestly and gets another favourable draw. Looks capable of getting into the finish again.
Mr President (8)
Recent form has dropped away after some better earlier performances. Wide draw doesn’t help, but improvement would put him in the combinations.
Race 6
Recoil (7)
Produced smart time in his latest trial ahead of his debut. Wide draw is awkward, but he looks to have enough ability to overcome it.
Aaliyah (6)
Faced high-class fillies when resuming and should find this considerably easier. Promising last campaign and looks a major chance.
Mach A Wish (3)
Continued his consistent campaign with another placing at Gore. Drawn nicely and should be around the money again.
Race 7
Dreams Are Free (7)
Drops sharply in grade after competing strongly in NZ Cup lead-ups. 30m handicap is significant, but his class should take him close.
Tua Lipa (3)
Finished strongly for third at Gore and continues to race in excellent form. Ten metres to overcome but looks a genuine threat.
Bettor Way (4)
Wasn’t far away at Gore after winning here previously. Racing consistently enough to be a strong top-four chance.
Race 8
Krackaling (14)
Returns with an excellent form line after one quiet trial. Thirty-five metres is a major task, but her class keeps her firmly in contention.
Andy Hall (5)
Continues to race honestly and gets a valuable front-line advantage. Well placed to make his presence felt again.
Gasherbrum (10)
Comes off a strong Winton victory and remains in excellent form. Steps into tougher company but is capable of measuring up.
Race 9
Side Hustle (7)
Returns from a spell after impressing in his trials. Draw isn’t ideal, but he looks ready to produce a big fresh-up performance.
Rakmacknra (1)
Should improve from his latest run after excellent earlier form. Gets the ace draw and looks a serious winning chance.
Rack’em Up (5)
Produced a brave second at Gore and looks to be hitting peak form. Similar effort puts him right in the fight again.
