Harness racing hits Banks Peninsula again today with 12 races on the card. The racing starts at 12:05pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Mike’s Eyre (13) Didn’t get clear last week. Has ability and can run well with a cart up.
Franco Tim (2) Better second day run recently. Draw should give a kinder trip here.
Always Bee Gee (4) Worked hard outside leaders last time and kept fighting. Genuine threat.

Race 2

Maroubra (7) Knocking on the door. Consistent minors and tough to hold out with a soft run.
Mithali (1) Held up last start but stuck on. Draw helps and can feature with a safe beginning.
Lady Lucinda (9) Stayed on from the pegs last week. Manners give her place hope in this.

Race 3

Unico Tessa (6) Game again last week. Keeps earning and must be included. Top selection
Sweet Bree (2) Debutant with solid trials prep. Nice draw and top driver booked. Needed.
Happy Harriet (7) Good Waitangi Day run. Wide gate tricky but still in contention in this.

Race 4

Major Li (7) Strong form line. Denied from the trail last start. Each-way chance again.
Downbythebeach (8) Debutant with strong trials. Likely prominent if she begins cleanly.
Itz All Over Rover (6) Battled away last week. Best form puts him in first fours territory.

Race 5

Holly Highlander (10) Never far away lately. Honest type and a must in multiples. Driver change
Buffy Northstains (1) Checked early last week yet close up. Can stick on from ace with  manners.
Diamond Harbour (2) Best run this prep last start. Repeat effort gives her a shot. Draw good

Race 6

Times Like These (11) Improved mid-race last week. Can get a trailing run and work into it.
Troubleshooter (2) Forgive Methven run. Draw suits and worth sticking with. Speed is there
Sweet Glory (7) Finished off nicely last time. Draw awkward but can be running on at longer odds.

Race 7

Quinn (4) Strong win recently. Step up today but still in the mix with good run in transit. Include
Bruntwood Brigade (8) Tidy efforts on grass lately. Hard fit and a genuine each-way chance.
I’m Rockin (13) Kept trying last start. Has raced well in better fields and can run into the placings

Race 8

The Royal Gamble (10) Honest enough lately. Solid grass record and can sneak into minors here.
Petite Trixton (1) Chasing a hat-trick. Tough when controlling the tempo. Big threat from the draw
Aldebaran Redwood (8) Strong late win last week. Tougher today but top three chance again.

Race 9

Jukebox Gypsy (1) Super consistent. Ace draw could finally see her break through. Include
Flyaway (10) Likes this trip and track. Needs gaps late but must be covered in combinations.
Divine Mercy (12) Impressive debut win. Up in grade but has upside and top driver sticks with.

Race 10

Foliejon Star (11) Very smart last couple. Almost won Friday and still the one to beat in this line up.
Festus Haggen (12) Honest earner here. Might lack zip but can add value in exotics  if he gets handy.
He’s A Bay (3) Had no dash last time. Hard to trust but fast beginner who could improve with luck.

Race 11

Transtasman Bubble (5) OK from the back last week. On the speed suits him today. Worth including
Go Home Denise (1) Consistent since breakthrough. Draw keeps her right in this. Top driver on
Cappaha (3) Forgive last week. Previous run was strong and can bounce back. Grass track suits here

Race 12

Lilac Luxury (12) Strong placings this prep. Tricky draw and needs luck but will be running home well
Nickel And Dime (10) Won well from the trail then average last start. Go again from his trailing draw
Franco Humbie (5) Sharp Methven sprint win. Can go on with it here and might be over the odds.
