Auckland selections 28th August 2026

Harness analyst best tips:

Best Bet: R7 Just Us Two

Best Value: R5 Colonel Lincoln

Race 1

Wat Next (3)
Resumes after two workout placings and has shown enough ability previously. Looks very well placed to strike fresh.

Gotta Go Miki (6)
Has been holding his form in stronger company and shouldn’t be underestimated despite drawing wider tonight.

Treasure Cove (10)
Things haven’t gone his way in recent starts. Capable of much better and could be the one at odds for the multiples.

Race 2

Bijou (9)
Impressive winning on debut and clearly has plenty of upside. The 30m handicap is the test but she looks capable of overcoming it.

Royal Petite (8)
Has produced three strong placings this preparation despite making mistakes. Major chance if she trots cleanly throughout.

What A Surprise (4)
Continues to race honestly without winning. Should get her opportunity again and driver change for this might help. Include.

Race 3

We Will Rise Again (4)
Showed plenty in her first campaign and comes back after winning a recent trial. Looks ready to go first-up.

Copy Ten Four (1)
Did plenty of work at Cambridge last time and never gave it away. The inside draw makes him a serious winning chance.

Sea You Now (5)
Returns after winning a recent trial in impressive fashion. Has only raced once and could be a big improver this campaign.

Race 4

Shes All Legs (4)
Found the line nicely at Cambridge last start and is a previous winner on this track. Looks capable of going close.

Kamilla (6)
Controlled proceedings when winning here earlier this month. Back in a suitable grade and has to be respected again.

Eagle Hanover (5)
Wasn’t far away at Cambridge last time and has enough ability for this grade. One to consider at longer odds.

Race 5

Colonel Lincoln (8)
We keep tipping him and tonight drops into considerably easier company. Keep the faith. Capable of surprising at value.

Blackjack (1)
Good effort on his northern debut and now lands the perfect draw. Should be right in the fight from the outset.

Mr Miki (7)
Returned with an encouraging third and has a good record around Auckland. Looks ready to produce another strong performance.

Race 6

Two Francs (12)
Only narrowly denied when last racing here and has been building a strong record. Manners are important but he’s clearly good enough.

Memories (2)
Forget the latest run after making a late mistake. Previous form was excellent and she can bounce straight back from the front.

Son Of The Cleaner (1)
Produced a useful fourth on his latest visit and gets every opportunity from the front mark. Place claims with a clean beginning.

Race 7

Just Us Two (1)
Excellent second behind War Chief two starts ago and the ace draw is a major advantage. Looks extremely hard to beat from here.

Another Collect (3)
Did plenty of work from the second row last start and still fought strongly. Tough customer who should be right in the finish.

Amazing Captain (6)
Returned from a spell with an upset victory here and should only improve from that outing. Harder draw but cannot be left out.

Race 8

Secret Beach (7)
Arrives chasing four wins on end and is clearly thriving. Steps into another competitive field but winning form is hard to ignore.

Midfrew Lando (1)
Has been racing well at Cambridge and finally lands an inside draw back at Auckland. Gets his chance to turn consistency into a win.

The Surfer (11)
His record over the sprint trip isn’t flash but he brings plenty of class to this field. Dangerous if the race unfolds his way.

Race 9

Youneverknow (5)
In outstanding form this campaign and comes here off another victory. Giving away ground but still looks the horse they have to beat.

Bolt For The Hill (4)
Has produced three very good runs since returning and continues to knock on the door. Genuine threat with another clean performance.

Paramount Spur (1)
Backed up a strong second with victory last week and is racing at the top of his game. This is tougher but he’s too well drawn to dismiss.

Race 10

War Chief (7)
Quality pacer who looks well suited in this company. Has the speed to take up a prominent position and looks the clear top selection.

Mediator (8)
Faces a difficult draw first-up but has previously won fresh. Expect him to be doing his best work late if they run along.

Captain Moonlight (3)
Gets an important draw advantage over several key rivals. Capable of putting himself into the race early and looks a genuine place chance.
