Auckland selections 10th September 2026
Harness analyst best tips:
Best Bet: R3 Soundshell
Best Value: R4 Rebel Castleton
Race 1
Arrigo (4)
Hasn’t had much go his way since winning his maiden strongly. Finds a suitable race and looks one of the hardest to beat.
Blackjack (10)
Disappointed as favourite last time but his previous Cambridge third was strong. Second row complicates matters but can bounce back.
Genuine Imitation (2)
Resumes from a very handy draw and has shown enough ability to feature. Looks a solid top-three chance fresh.
Race 2
Wynberg Janie (7)
Early mistake didn’t help last time and her previous fourth was encouraging. Manners are crucial but she’s capable of threatening.
Scoots (6)
Forget the latest Auckland effort. Previous Cambridge placing over this trip reads well and she looks a genuine winning chance.
Eagle Hanover (5)
Continues to race honestly and this moderate field gives her another good opportunity. Must be included in the main chances.
Race 3
Soundshell (1)
Gets her best draw for some time and should be able to make full use of it. Looks a major winning chance.
The Miki Taker (4)
Hasn’t quite delivered in his last couple but his earlier placing showed enough. Capable of bouncing back in this maiden.
Loveable Rogue (3)
Resumes for a new stable and has performed well fresh previously. Drawn nicely and looks a strong top-three chance.
Race 4
Rebel Castleton (4)
Continues to race consistently and gets another opportunity from the front mark. Looks the horse they will have to beat.
Mechanica (3)
Form has been mixed but her better recent efforts put her right in this. Front-line advantage gives her every chance.
Aldebaran D B (5)
Returns from a lengthy break and gives the front markers 30 metres. Has ability when right and is worth keeping safe.
Race 5
Adjournment (2)
Produced a brave effort at Auckland last start and lands a much better draw tonight. Looks an excellent each-way chance.
Waltzing With Miki (1)
Gets the perfect draw for the short-course assignment. Recent form is better than it looks and he can take advantage.
Chanel Noire (8)
Drops significantly in grade and looks to have a class edge on most of these. Wide draw is the obvious concern.
Race 6
Maro Mackendon (9)
Returns after putting together consecutive wins before his spell. Gives them 15 metres but has the class to overcome it.
Luca (3)
Was beaten as favourite here last time but gets another suitable opportunity. Starts from the front and can make amends.
Jasinova (7)
Produced an emphatic Auckland victory last week for career win number 25. Fifteen-metre handicap makes it tougher but she’s flying.
Race 7
Hooray Henry (7)
Remarkably consistent with placings in seven of his last eight starts. Deserves another win and looks very hard to beat.
Upstage (2)
Excellent placing from the second row at Auckland last week. Drawn much better tonight and looks a serious threat.
Midfrew Lando (1)
Raced well from this same draw at Auckland two starts ago. Gets every opportunity from the ace and must be respected.
Race 8
Heaven High (5)
Does his best racing at Cambridge and gets a suitable draw in this amateur drivers’ event. Looks one of the leading chances.
Midfrew Lucre (8)
Won impressively at Auckland two starts ago and has an excellent record in amateur races. Wide draw but clearly capable.
Ohoka Achilles (1)
Recent form is only fair but the inside draw gives him every opportunity to improve. Worth including in the combinations.
