Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with 12 races on the card. The racing starts at 11:55am and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

November Nine (3) Small field will help and has run time in the past. Top selection in this field
Showcase (4) Small field will help and can give the favourite a run for her money, Needed
Woodlea Rocks (2) Getting better with racing and gets a head start on rivals. Has claims

 

Race 2

Waterloo Station (4) Will appreciate the bigger track and better than the form suggests. Include
Tarragindi (6) Has early speed to be one of the leaders and will be fitter. Will start a short price
Major Doosie (5) Improver from his last start and mile will suit here. Top three chance in this

 

Race 3

Little Spike (13) Big drop in class for this and should be winning with no bad luck. Top selection
Rock Or Bust (12) Ok last start and a threat to the favourite with a good run in transit. Needed
Foxing Easton (11) Good effort last start and can sneak into the top three at longer odds with luck

 

Race 4

I Dream Of Jeannie (13) Solid win last start and a winning chance again with the drop in class
Hidden Talent (14) Has form against better horses and conditions suit. Should give a good account
Practical Magic (11) Out of form but improver with a place chance at longer odds with a good trip

Race 5

Dynasty (14) Fought on last start in a stronger field and weaker field here. Top selection in this
Ultimate Cullect (15) Had excuses last start and well placed here. Good chance but tricky draw
Troubleshooter (5) Will be fitter after last start. Gets a head start on main rivals. Include

 

Race 6

Bring On The Muscle (9) Has run some good races on this track. Hard to beat against this lot
Donna’s Boy (7) Should get a soft run handy with his gate speed. Winning claims. Needed here
Stone Cold (8) In form but against weaker fields. Can give a good sight here if they go quick

 

Race 7

Amass (15) Gets a tricky draw but has the class factor on his side. Will need luck but is speedy
Kiss The Girls (14) Tricky draw but should go close to placing in this with a cart into the race
Magnetic Beckers (10) In good form and should get a good run on the pegs. Top three chance

 

Race 8

Have A Little Faith (10) Stable respect but might get back from the draw. Has winning claims
Atlantic City (8) Decent motor and is drawn well here. Gate speed and one of the better chances
Penelope Lane (9) Not far away last start against a stronger field. Will continue to improve. Include

 

Race 9

Amaretto Franco (14) Fastest horse in the field and will be running on. Tricky draw but can win
Joes Rock (15) Decent motor and will be running on late here. Luck needed from draw but has speed
Close (8) Disappointing last start. Top driver booked and likely to press forward early, Go again here

 

Race 10

Empire City (14) Has raced better fields. Drawn wider but opened over the odds. Looks a good bet.
Freya (13) Wide draw but better than most in this. Big field to get around but worth including here
Aspirational Dream (7) Will appreciate the bigger track and can do some work mid race. Upset hope

 

Race 11

Greased Lightnin (10) Looks better than most of this field. Should be winning and top selection
Berrettini (9) Good against better horses in the past. Favourite looks hard to beat but can place
By Chance (8) Likely to race close to the speed here. One of the better top three chances here

 

Race 12

The Present Maker (12) Still improving and fast at his best.  Second row draw but top selection
Maui (13) Better than the form suggests. Mile suits as does the track. Can run top three in this
One Over Da Line (5) Won well last start but hardest test to date. Not the worst at longer odds
