Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with 13 races on the card. The racing starts at 12:50pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Logan Rock (1) Draws to lead or trail, either way, looks a winning hope over the sprint trip. Needed
Star On The Rocks (4) Distance will help and should begin quickly. Winning claims if he finds the front
Radioactive Jaffa (11) Getting better with racing and always finishes strongly. Chance at longer odds

Race 2

Mum’s Angel (9) Has come a long way for this and in form Class will take her a long way here
Paramount Picture (4) Has the speed to win but risky early. Mobile a definite help but cross fingers
Zhutee (8) Improver from her last start and hasn’t had much go right lately. Worth a look at big odds

Race 3

Transonic (12) Big reputation to uphold but should go close to winning if he lives up to the hype
Vin’s Deal (10) Ok last start and a threat to the favourite with a good run in transit. Top three claims
Swimming Poole (16) Good effort last start but tricky draw. Can sneak into the top three with luck

Race 4

Larissa Beaudiene (4) Solid recent trials and a winning chance from the draw. Stable in form
B B Crunch (6) Has plenty of speed and goes well the track. Should give a good account in this
Mariners Rose (7) Freshened and an improver with a place chance with top driver booked.

Race 5

Macho Man (2) Good form and looks well placed to grab another minor cheque if things fall right
The Will (10) Had excuses last start but finished quickly. Good each way chance with a quick start
Nobilo (7) Will be fitter after disappointing last start. Big chance if he races near the speed in this

Race 6

Treasure Cove (1) Talented but tricky draw here. Must produce a clean getaway to feature here
Bettor Way (10) Capable of causing an upset if tempo turns messy up front. Will be running on
Georgie Zukov (18) Due to show form and a wet track might suit. One for longer odds with luck

Race 7

Always A Menace (4) Might start a short favourite in this. Will probably lead and be hard to beat
Sandy Shore (5) Has the motor to give rivals a fright if she gets a soft run near the speed. Needed
Courtney Rose (10) Draws a handy spot on the pegs and is a chance to run top three form there. 

Race 8

Have A Little Faith (8) Galloped last start but better than that . Wide draw but can go close to winning
Rangitata (7) Decent motor and one of the better chances if she gets around error free. Hard to beat
Harriet’s Moment (3) Disappointing last start. Will continue to improve and mobile a big assist here

Race 9

Nothing But You (4) Best draw for some time and driver change. Might bounce to the front. Include
Seaside Fantasy (6) Big finish last start and drawn well here. Looks over the odds in this field.
Treacherous Me (8) Disappointing last start. Dangerous if she gets a soft run in transit. Needed here

Race 10

Elton J (6) Has raced better fields. Drawn to go forward and looks a good bet if he leads. Top selection
Quinn (10) Inside draw will help and better than most in this field. Good chance but will need gaps
Seaside Pond (1) Good finish last start and can run a tidy mile. Could surprise from the inside draw

Race 11

Tribbiani (10) Track suits and good finish last start. Can go close to winning here with manners. Include
Prestigious (20) Good form but tricky draw.. Big field to get around but he can make his own luck
Son E (19) Recent trial was good but might get back in the running. One for longer odds in this field

Race 12

Franco Lomu (8) Has been unlucky and lands another bad draw. Will head forward and can dominate
Nikolai Ray (7) Nice run of form and has to be respected again if he fires across early. Winning claims
Treacherous Dreams (3) Freshened and debut run was good. Chance at longer odds from the draw

Race 13

Artful Bromac (1) Draw suits and was ok in a strong field last start. Can go close over the sprint
Wavewatcher (6) Good gate speed and drawn to get a run near the speed. One for longer odds
Rack’em Up (2) Likely to race close to the speed here from the draw. One of the better chances
