Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with 8 races on the card. The racing starts at 12:33pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Star On The Rocks (6) Should suit the big track here and dangerous if he found the lead. Needed
Tidy Kiwi (5) Small field will help and debut run was ok. Look for an improvement in this field.
Hey Bud (4) Easy trial win recently and beat some nice horses. Will be hard to beat fresh up here

Race 2

Swift Guy (3) Freshened and conditions suit. Should go close and one of the better chances
Vesta (8) Tough run for second last start and will be fitter. Will give a good account again here
Riley John (1) Improver from his last start and needs a quick beginning. Top three chance here

Race 3

The Beach House (2) Freshened and has the speed to be a factor over the shorter trip. Needed
Always Bee Gee (3) Ok last start and a threat to these with a good run in transit. In the mix here
Melton Magnate (1) Good effort last start and best draw. Can sneak into the top three again

Race 4

Woodlea Rocks (11) Solid second last start and a winning chance again but tricky draw. Include
Tipstar (1) Looks stronger this time in. Should give a good account from the ace barrier. Needed
Kowhai Star (5) Has been disappointing but has not had a lot of luck. Dangerous if she found the lead

Race 5

Carlin (5) Fought on best last start to win his maiden race. This not much stronger and top selection
Santanna Mach (8) Always a threat in races like this. Good each way chance again here. Include
Heaven (6) Will be fitter after last start and stand suits. Will need the right trip but has top three claims

Race 6

Major Happy (8) Good against a way tougher field last start. Hard to beat against this lot.
Lorton Vale (6) Has had a decent break and well placed in this if fully fit. Winning claims here
Wind In The Wire (1) Due to show form and drawn well here. One for longer odds for a place

Race 7

Petite Trixton (3) Got it wrong last start. Will need manners but hard to beat if he does things right
Take After Me (4) Good run last start for second and should go close to placing in this. Include
Ruthless Emma (5) In good form and not the worst at longer odds here. Top three chance for sure

Race 8

Sofia Rose (3) Narrowly beaten last start and is a winning chance in what is an even field. Needed
Million Dollar Chic (8) Tough win last start and wide draw the only concern. One of the better chances
Harry Belafonte (5) Running good races and place hope again here if he gets a good trip. In the mix
