Harness racing heads to Addington tonight with 13 races on the card. Racing starts at 4:38pm, with the programme featuring the $60,000 Group 2 Canterbury Classic and the $40,000 Group 3 Canterbury Park Trotting Cup. We highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a big night of racing.

Queen Lizzy (2)

Worked hard for second at Methven on Sunday. Better draw here and chance for another win. Top selection.

River (5)

Disappointing at Oamaru but impressive trial winner since. Looks ready to bounce back and should go close. Needed.

Ward Lamon (4)

Has won his last two starts since heading north. Tougher field here but racing well enough to feature again. Include.

Race 2

Allets (9)

Good third last week after a winning return. Wide draw hurts but will be running on strongly. Top selection.

Lilac Luxury (4)

Has been racing consistently without winning. Drawn to get a soft trip and this field suits. Good each way chance.

Blaze Craze (3)

Solid efforts in her last two starts and gets a handy draw. Trial error a concern but has winning claims with manners.

Race 3

Elton J (6)

Returns for a new stable after two wins last campaign. Impressive trial winner despite breaking and looks hard to beat fresh. Needed.

Commander Ben (1)

Below his best at Methven after some fair efforts. Front mark a big advantage and could improve with a soft trip.

Kiwi Hero (8)

Better run in the Akaroa Cup. Gets a head start on the favourite and can sneak top three if he can find a forward position.

Race 4

Master McGoogan (8)

Impressive winner here last month and has good gate speed. Wide draw but looks the one to beat again. Top selection.

Out Of Sequence (6)

Solid second on debut against a useful field. Will be fitter and looks a genuine winning chance. Include.

Paramount Royalty (4)

Went close against a race winner at the trials after a good trial win. Should give a good account on debut.

Race 5

Beast Mode (1)

Big effort for second on debut and gets the best draw here. Looks very hard to beat with a soft trip. Needed.

On Ya Bike (3)

Found the opposition too tough last start. Drops back to maiden company and gets a better draw. Winning claims.

Jacque (2)

Promising debutant who has been trialling well at Rangiora. Drawn to get a good run and looks a major threat.

Race 6

Frazzled (10)

Resumes after showing good form last campaign. Has raced well fresh before and could surprise despite the 10m handicap. Include.

Evolution (4)

Won well at her last start and has been improving with racing. Front mark gives her a head start on the better runners. Each way chance.

Swift Dream (9)

Big effort at a big price last start. Has been racing consistently and Blair Orange drives. Top three chance again here.

Race 7

Candy Cane (12)

Fair effort fresh up last week and will be fitter for that. Second-row draw but can finish strongly if the pace is on.

Zarlini (13)

Good trial second behind The Lazarus Effect and form last campaign was good. May need the run but has to be respected. Include.

Cinderella Franco (10)

Resumes after two trials and has plenty of speed. Second-row draw hurts but looks one of the better winning chances.

Race 8

The Lazarus Effect (2)

Unbeaten in two starts this campaign and impressive trial winner since. Drawn well for the standing start and looks very hard to beat. Top selection.

Marketplace (8)

Strong winner here last start and can begin quickly from the stand. Wide draw but has the speed to be right in the finish.

Bettors Anvil (5)

Had excuses last start after being checked and still finished off well. Better run expected and looks a good place chance.

Race 9

Cruise Maguire (1)

Impressive winner at Invercargill last start and gets the ace draw. Up in grade but has plenty of ability. Can upset here.

Franco Lomu (10)

Almost beat Jumal two starts back and has been racing consistently. Draw might work out ok and looks a major winning chance.

War Party (11)

Has won his last four starts in the north and brings excellent form south. Tough draw but should be very competitive. Needed.

Race 10

Tactical Bid (6)

Better run than the result suggests last week when finishing strongly. Meets a tougher field but could surprise at longer odds.

Higher Power (8)

Has won both starts this campaign in impressive fashion. Wide draw but gets in off the front mark and looks hard to beat.

Meant To Be (11)

Improving with each start and good third last week. Only 10m behind the front markers and looks a strong each way chance.

Race 11

Arafura (7)

Impressive winner in both starts since resuming. Has gate speed and looks the one to beat despite the wide draw. Needed.

The Jolly Roger (1)

Good second here last week and has been racing consistently. Ace draw gives him every chance to feature again.

Taketheplunge (6)

Strong winner here earlier this month after a good fresh-up run. Up in grade but has to be respected. Include.

Race 12

Tetrick(AUS) (1)

Two big efforts since resuming and gets the front mark here. Looks very well placed and should be hard to beat. Top selection.

Dreams Pat (3)

Made a mistake when resuming last week and should be fitter. Needs better manners but could improve at longer odds.

Freya (7)

Resumes after good autumn form and has been trialling well. 10m handicap but looks a genuine winning chance fresh.

Race 13

My Wingman (3)

Had excuses last week and better than the form suggests. Good gate speed and should race handy. Winning claims.

Heaven’s Mark (7)

Disappointing last start after getting the run to suit. Better than that and could bounce back with a change of luck. Place chance.

Just Like Jagger (6)

Good fourth in a stronger mares’ field last week. Has been improving and looks one of the better chances. Include.
