Hambletonian - Harness News Update Picks & Analysis

One of the biggest days of the year in American harness racing is this Saturday (Aug. 3) at the Meadowlands. The Big M is set to host a 16-dash card that is headlined by the $1,050,000 Hambletonian Finals. Other stakes like the Hambletonian Oaks, Cane Pace, and Lady Liberty are featured throughout the card.

The entries can be found here.

The first elimination winner, Karl (Tactical Landing) gets the inside rail and will be eyeing his sixth win of the year. He scored the win last week in a personal best 1:50.3. He only has one blemish on his record which was third place in the Stanley Dance Memorial. He is on a similar trajectory as his two-year-old campaign. He finished his rookie season with nine wins and one lone second-place finish. Another win on Saturday from the Nancy Takter trained-colt could go a long way in cementing his legacy.

KARL REPLAY

The other elimination winner, T C I (Cantab Hall) won with his own personal best 1:50.4. The Ron Burke trained colt picked up his fourth win of the year His two-year-old year was also very successful with 10 wins in 12 starts and he never finished worse than second place. However, he has had a couple of miscues this year with a third in the Stanley Dancer and a fourth in the Zwieg Memorial. His recent result in the Hambletonian elimination indicates he has regained a higher level of form.
