Grima has Loucasso ready for his campaign

Grima has Loucasso ready for his campaign

By Harnesslink ·

For a young trainer driver Seaton Grima has his head firmly on his shoulders aware of the responsibilities that comes with training a full harness racing team.

Right now he’s relishing his biggest challenge to date and that is with his newest addition Loucasso (Sweet Lou).

Ever since he obtained the Sweet Lou colt who created a huge impression as one the leading two year olds of last season, he’s been careful to work up a program for his comeback. And finally this Saturday night at Menangle, Loucasso will make his three year old debut at Menangle. Grima couldn’t be more satisfied with his preparation this time in.

He’s gone to another level after his trial at Newcastle and he’s been working good at home. He had a workout at Menangle and that sharpened him up.

I expect him to win, first up. He suggests to me that he is ready to go. If he was to run as his trial at Newcastle he’d win anything. He pulls up sensational, he’s got a good constitution, ten minutes after that trial he would have bee ready to go again.

The Breeders Challenge is his aim before going to the Eureka. We plan to race him three weeks in a row and after the three year old we’ll go for the Carousel Heat and Final at Menangle. The distance of 2300 metres should prepare him for the Eureka.

He knows he’s good, and he’s very casual around home. He’s nice and bright and could well  set up my career.  After all horses come and go and you experience the highs and lows of the sport.

Currently Loucasso is one of the favourites for the $1.5 million Eureka to be staged at Menangle on 21 November and is sure to be keenly sought after by the slot holders.

Grima has currently a strong support team as evidenced by the remarkable effort of Springfield Affair with his win last Saturday night at Menangle.

He surprised me a bit. I was not expecting him to go 1.48.9. He’s a horse that will appreciate Menangle.

Another recent addition is the talented former Tasmanian Hungry Hippo. As a three year old Hungry Hippo won the Globe Derby at Launceston and then a year later took out the Group 2 Raider Stakes final at the same track.

We’ve had him for about 3 weeks. I’m not quite fully happy with him. But he’s trialling better although in his last trial he was overracing a bit.  He’s high in grade already. We have no real big aims just get him to the races. His form speaks for himself.

Yet another addition Hidalgo for purchased in the trading ring.

He’s been a little disappointing  in his work. But he has no injuries will I think he’ll make a nice mid week horse.
